  1. You know what? We're going tomorrow. If we don't go, then the terrorists win. Furlough be damned! Who's with me?
  2. Ah, shit. Chase Utley hacked Edgy's account again. Chase, we're not saying that he's not dreamy. We're saying he's terrible at getting major league hitters out with any reliability.
  3. And Jerry gets tossed too. I kinda like Laz Diaz. I remember watching him as a AAA ump when I was living in Rochester.
  4. He must have naked pictures of someone. There's no other reason that he'd still be on the roster.
  5. If GMJ could find a way to hit into a quadruple play here, he would.
  6. A day a week, until they get the budget passed. The legislature, however, continues to work at full pay, which sounds fair to me. I'm secretly hoping there's a Eliot Loudermilk working somewhere in the state.
  7. Was going to go Wednesday, as I said, but since (a) it's going to rain, and ( the d-bags in Albany just cut my salary by 20%, so I think I'm going to have to pass.
  8. What is with you and dead people? I'm not hanging out with you any more.

  11. Edgy DC wrote: I don't know what their plan would be, but I'm certain that if Pagan got hurt at the laundromat last night, Matthews would be the centerfielder today and getting the most reps there for the immediate future. Immediate future, yes. Like the next six games. But if GMJ went 3 for 21 in those six games, he'd be cut and Fartinez would be in CF every day, batting seventh.
  12. I remember as a young card collector obsessing over odd-named fellows like Joe DeSa and Bryan Clutterbuck (who was nicknamed "Clutterbutt" in my old flipping days) and Jaime Cocanower. Gary Gray, Ed Ott... there were a bunch in the 80s.
  13. metirish wrote: My last game at Shea during it's last week had me sitting all the way up top above home plate in the last row.....I loved going up there....it was so high. I remember thinking that I'll never see a baseball game from this high up again.....my first ever game there I did the rookie mistake of not dressing appropriately for an April game. I did the same thing my last game. Got there right when the gates opened and circumnavigated the whole place, top to bottom.

Lifetime ban from all ballparks. its unenforceable, unless you want to require a birth certificate, photo id, and social security card to enter a ballpark (hell, we couldnt even keep a guy on a "no fly list" from getting on a plane!) I know. Until they develop retinal scan technology at ticket gates. Arizona's in the vanguard on this. No, they just automatically tase anyone darker than Gwen Stefani.
  15. bmfc1 wrote: You've raised an interesting point Edgy. The Mets are teaching their pitchers to pitch to contact in order to take advantage of the big ballpark. Thus far, it's working at home but on the road, the fly balls that are "long outs" at home become home runs in "band boxes" like Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Mike Francesa actually raised that point with Jerry the other day on the phone. He asked if the guys had to change their focus, especially in parks like Philly and Cincinnati. Whereas at home they could "pitch to contact," on the road, they had to try to get pitches by guys and/or get ground balls. There's probably some truth to it. Is it on Jerry? Dan? I don't know. Look at a guy like Pelfrey, who's significantly worse on the road. Maybe that's what's in his head? I'd think that's Dan Warthen's job, to help mitigate that, like it's Jerry's job to get the right guys in the game at the right time.
  16. Playing hookey on Wednesday for the matinee; bringing MiniWolf if he stops being a jagoff about peeing during naptime. My first official visit to the new place.
  17. Nymr83 wrote: the highest seats in the majors? I believe they were, yes. I'm hitting Citi three times this year, after not going at all (save the "open workout" before Opening Day) last year. So maybe I'll have a chance to build some comparison.
  18. I was in the Picnic Area at Shea twice. Once, a high school friend who I had a crush on got tickets through her dad's office; I was sure that was going to be a huge turning point for our relationship. (It wasn't.) The second time, a Pepsi Wednesday night freebie, my wife went apeshit on this kid who kept standing right in front of us and almost stabbed him in the neck with her scorebook pencil. (Intentionally.) I miss the picnic area.
  19. And yet, there was the sign man, or a sign man, anyway, in 1985. I want to say he was going by the moniker "Kraze The Sign Man," but it was 25 years ago, so my memory might not be too slick.
  20. What was the deal with the sign man? We were there for Fan Appreciation Day in 1985 (the Floyd Youmans game), and I distinctly remember a sign man in left field with us. Was that the same sign man from the old days, or did he have another guy carry the mantle in the 80s?
