  1. The injuries have been such a problem for him. He's never been able to get consistent ABs, anywhere he's played the last few years. Part of me wishes the Padres had given him more of a shot, but at the same time, he kept getting hurt. Also, as to specific memories here, the whole "nobody's buying my jersey" thing, which felt like it caused a ton of his fellow Seawolves to do exactly that. Freddy is a very good dude.
  2. Yet another Seawolf Met, so I was quite pleased, even if the dream didn't quite get completely fulfilled.
  3. Former Met Franklyn Kilome getting the start here in Rochester today for the Wings... and promptly gives up long home runs to two of the first three Scranton batters. Dude's still got it.
  4. Wow. Didn't see that coming, but if they're giving up three of their top five prospects for him, well, that's a price I would not want us to pay.
  5. Seriously? We couldn't go with "Mets Make Acuna Trade" as the subject? Goodness, we're getting soft.
  6. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=100500 time=1658422750 user_id=68] =seawolf17 post_id=100498 time=1658422566 user_id=91] I hadn't realized that Orosco and Buckner were linked from day one. Neat.

  8. I forgot about that too. If it was in the $20M range, then maybe, or if he was Thor's age, then maybe. But dude turns 35 in the middle of next season. Coming off two injury seasons, nobody's paying him $65M for the next two except us.
  9. I agree that I think he'll be back, but *if* not... oh, wait. He's guaranteed $30.5M next year. If he doesn't pitch in 2022, I'd be really surprised to see him opt out, because nobody's giving him that much in a long term deal at 34. He can either pitch 23 and 24 for $60M+, or take $20M in a make-good for 2023 in Arizona or some godforsaken place? No way.
  10. If he doesn't pitch at all again this year, he'd get a Thor deal - one year, $20M, and then see what happens.
  11. Interesting on Marte. He was all over the Derby celebration last night.
  12. As much a Voice Of The Mets as Bob or Ralph or Gary. When I decided to add some non-players to my autograph collection, he was one of the first guys I wrote a letter to.
  13. That's REALLY encouraging, even at a really low level.
  14. Okay, this is funny.
  15. Okay, I read the whole thing and now I hate him *more.*
  16. Hey, it looks like he reads my tweets. So that's nice.
  17. As outfielder Pedro Martinez Jr., first baseman Manny Ramirez Jr., third baseman D'Angelo Ortiz, outfielder Jaden Sheffield and pitcher Kade Foulke chat in the batting cages, general manager Tom Tracey shoos away fans loitering outside Campanelli Stadium, hoping to get a glimpse of the players known collectively as "The Sons." https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34142595/manny-pedro-papi-kids-same-team-meet-sons-brockton-roxhttps://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34142595/manny-pedro-papi-kids-same-team-meet-sons-brockton-rox

  19. Does anyone have anything resembling evidence of DiLauro's place on the 1969 World Series roster? Memories are pretty unreliable, mine as well as everyone's else, so what I'm looking for is documentation. Knew I'd seen this somewhere, but I found the citation. https://www.cantonrep.com/story/news/2022/01/28/jack-dilauro-akron-autograph-requests-mail-amazin-miracle-new-york-mets-1969-world-series-mlb/6570864001/https://www.cantonrep.com/story/news/2022/01/28/jack-dilauro-akron-autograph-requests-mail-amazin-miracle-new-york-mets-1969-world-series-mlb/6570864001/ DiLauro didn't appear in the playoff games vs. Atlanta, nor the World Series vs. the Orioles. Not because he was in the doghouse. The Mets starters mostly dominated, so he wasn't needed in relief. "If I'd have pitched, that would have meant we were in trouble; and we never really were," he explained. DiLauro was in the bullpen when Jones, the Mets' leftfielder caught a fly ball off the bat of Dave Johnson to end Game 5 of the World Series. Jones famously went down on one knee to celebrate the title. Shea Stadium erupted. Fans stormed the field. DiLauro and the pitchers headed to the clubhouse. That fall, he and other players made personal appearances throughout the New York area.
  20. A few thoughts from the MAAAts last night here in the ROC. 1) Blankenhorn is WHITE HOT. 2-2 with two walks last night, and 8-8 with four walks in his last twelve plate appearances. 2) Khalil Lee looks a little lost at the plate? I don't know. I'm not a hitting coach. But he doesn't scream "TOP PROSPECT" right now. Had a big hit in the top of the eighth down by a run, but got thrown out (by a lot) trying to stretch it into a double. The S-Mets took the lead later in the inning (thanks to Blankenhorn), but that extra run would have been nice. 3) Tim Adleman looked good early, retiring the first eight, then walked the #9 hitter and kind of fell apart in the third and was out of the game by the fourth. 4) Watch Michel Otanez. Dude came out throwing 99-101 all the way down to 85, and was making batters look silly. Got the first two in the ninth easily, then walked and hit the #3 and #4 hitters, but induced an easy groundout for the save. His stats say he has some control issues, but he could be interesting.
  21. I had a feeling McCann wouldn't live up to the contract, but I didn't expect him to make Nido look like Tony Gwynn.
  22. Man, there is literally nobody on this roster I would want to have up less than McCann in this spot.
  23. Deven Marrero, new S-Met. Laid down a nice sac bunt in the second inning just now here in the ROC.
  24. I'm in 10th! The highest I've been in months!
