  1. I was just guessing on numbers. 1% of a $600 million franchise, divided by $37 a person. I have no idea where I came up with that number, though.
  2. The CPF needs to be a minority partner. I'm in for $37 too. We'll only need... /crunches numbers ... about 162,000 other people or so.
  3. Gwreck wrote: No offense to Seawolf who (I presume) didn't invent it, but "Twitterverse" is possibly the dumbest internet-related made-up word ever, except of course for the utterly moronic "Blogosphere." I invented neither word, but I do enjoy the word "Twitterverse."
  4. Edgy DC wrote: My money's on Wilpon eating an Olvier Perez contract sammich. Ollie is my guess also.
  5. Ted said "in thirteen minutes" about sixteen minutes ago, so he's a big fat liar.
  6. MFS62 wrote: JCL: Which Bob Miller are you referring to? Because there were two of them, you know. (haha) The joke used to be that the Mets had two pitchers named Bob Miller. How to remember which was which? Leave it to the Mets to have one of them have "L" as his middle initial - and he was the righty. Nothing was easy with that 1962 team. Later I have a hard time remembering which one is dead; it's the guy who came back in 1974, not the guy who was older... but I still never remember which was which.
  7. Considering the timing, it SHOULD be the UMDB update, but you know it won't. It's going to be eclipsed by that Perez/Castillo/Ike Davis for Pujols trade.
  8. I have no idea what it is, but the Twitterverse is going crazy.
  9. I think my greatest baseball-related fear is Bobby Valentine associating himself with either the Yankees or the Phillies. He's a legend to me.
  10. Wasn't he originally looking for a big-time payday? If he'd take a Chris Young deal, I'd be all over it.

  12. Bartolo Colon to the Yankees. Between him and Sabathia, they're going to owe luxury tax just on their clubhouse catering bills alone.
  13. Edgy DC wrote: I thinik Yount is a pretty comparable player. He hit the outfield mid-career --- around 30 --- however, which was about the time Jeter started winning Gold Gloves. See, that's just it. Yount was "mid-career" when he switched, but Jeter's not "mid-career." He's "end-career." Learning a new position at 38 is going to be hilarious.
  14. I'm fighting with Gene Wojciechowski on Twitter. He's trying to compare Jeter to Robin Yount. The good news is that I got him to retweet me calling Jeter "Captain Intangibles."
  15. I can't believe they already gave Kevin McReynolds' number away.
  16. Among other things. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Brian-Cashman-predicts-Derek-Jeter-will-soon-mov?urn=mlb-312240 With Jeter in the outfield, Carl Crawford will have thirty triples a season just in his eighteen games against the Yankees.
  17. And I can't find it anywhere in Rubin's tweets.
  18. Ashie62 wrote: Gil Meche has been signed by the Mets to a minor league contract per Rubin/Twitter Except that he retired last week. (Meche, not Rubin.)
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: I expect Keith to refer to him as 'Jerry' at least once for every three days he's up with the big club. You mean once every three innings.
  20. WILSON 53 just looks stupid. Stop being a dick, Luis.
  21. Morneau would have been my guess too; 948 games to date.
  22. I guess I'm the only one who isn't thrilled about the deal. I have a horrible feeling about this. The only consolation is that we kept Fernando Martinez. I could care less about Humber, but I'm furious that we traded Mulvey. http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/8100/f1_t8182.shtml
  23. Rockin' Doc wrote: I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid the many signings are more quantity, rather than quality. Time will tell. We said that about RA Dickey last year, and we wound up catching lightning. The guys they're picking up all seem to be guys who can contribute, at least.
  24. metirish wrote: five years $90 million This is closer to what I'm thinking, yes.
  25. Six years, $85 million. Plus as many options/incentives as you want to throw in there, including a tenured gig at Hudson University for Professor Reyes.
