  1. Maybe I played IV, then, and it was V that I never got.
  2. IV, I think, came out on the SNES or the Gameboy or some system I didn't have. I remember being mad that they did that.
  3. Ceetar wrote: I think it came with Dragon Warrior. awesome game. Holy crap I LOVED Dragon Warrior. Played the hell out of I, II, and III.
  4. metsmarathon wrote: a trip to your local radio shack would solve all your ills. hey, while you're there, do you need any AA batteries? Effin' hell, man. I have kids. We buy AA batteries as often as we buy milk.
  5. Which we would have had when we dumped Shoppach and his six weeks of batting .180 anyway. Fuckin' hell, Mets.
  6. Split and retitled so we can more aptly make fun of him.
  7. batmagadanleadoff wrote: 28 posts about Kelly Shoppach in less than 24 hours - a record setting number in the category of posts to talent ratio. I'm pretty sure a search here for "Jason Bay" would definitely blow that record out of the water.
  8. Did we know about this: http://www.gobulldogs.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/jones_bobby00.html We knew, but we weren't going to tell you.
  9. Boy, that's a long time, but the money's not bad. I would.
  10. Ten years, $400 million. Make it happen, Sandy.
  11. Only 6 Mets, 24% of the active roster, played in Shea Stadium as a Met. Parnell and Niese only twice. Murphy only for that last two months. Santana, Pelfrey, and Wright are the only three that even really remember 'collapsing'. When the other three showed up they were already falling down. . Muffy played an integral role in this doggie doodie game. (Seriously considered giving up baseball after that game). That's the game I go back to again and again, it really turned me against the whole franchise. After that, it was nothing but regrettably bad ideas and bad luck, demolishing Shea, rehiring jerry and Omar, the economic collapse and madoff mess, the idiotic putz trade, the bernazard affair, the thud with which Citi field opened, etc etc. I was going through an old hard drive and managed to find a vid of Bucket and Ceetar sitting next to each other at said game: That was my last Shea game. Like I needed another reason to be in tears that night, jackwads.
  12. I liked the "going back to Montreal" one.
  13. You know, if Beltran had signed with the MFYs, that they would have asked Sabathia to do exactly that.
  14. Josh Hamilton on a one-year, $8 million make-good deal so he can re-hit the FA market in 2013.
  15. "Scott... tell you what. We'll give you two years, $8 million in December. For now, go to California and play your ass off while we pick up a piece or two that'll help make our team better next year. Cool?"
  16. Philly outfield now empty; Heyman says Alderson just tied Jason Bay up and stuck him in the luggage compartment of an SFO-->PHL United flight.
  17. Vic Sage wrote: I thought he was developing into an ideal #3 hitter "Let me finish this and then I'm going to come over there and kick your ass."

Frayed Knot wrote: Josh Hamilton April + May: .368/.422/.764; 21 HRs; 39 Ks June + July: .189/.278/.357; 7 HRs; 56 Ks That kind of nose-dive is almost inexplicable and it's earned Hamilton some grief from both owner Nolan and some of the Texas fans. Not the kind of stretch drive you want with free-agency coming up this year- especially with his age (31) and history working against him. Quick! Offer them Jason Bay!
  19. metirish wrote: That settles it, if Seawolf , one of phone games great hitters can't hit Choate then he must be brilliant. Pretty much, yes.
  20. I have a baseball game on my phone, and Choate is the one pitcher in the whole game I can't hit. He's (as far as I know) the only sidewinding lefty in the game, and his pitches just move so much that I can't get a handle on them. So I picture him to be vastly more unhittable than he really is.
  21. Eovaldi's not a bad pitcher, but he's not an ace either. I'm intrigued by what the Astros are doing; they're dumping everyone and just stockpiling young players. Carlos Lee, Wandy, Lyon, Happ, Myers all gone, and about a dozen new minor leaguers in.
  22. http://deadspin.com/5927324 Anna gave an interview to Fox News in which she acknowledged she served Kris with divorce papers in March after finding out about his infidelity. Kris, now a money manager, allegedly slept with one of his wife's friends who he was supposed to be giving financial advice. Benson, who last pitched for Arizona in 2010, has been inextricably tied to and overshadowed by his bombastic wife throughout his career. (We couldn't even be bothered to find a photo of him for this post.) In Pittsburgh, she told a magazine that they had had sex in the stadium parking lot, and wanted to try it outside every ballpark in the majors. In New York, she told Howard Stern that if he cheated on her, she'd sleep with all his Mets teammates. (Somewhere, Cliff Floyd wonders what the statute of limitations on that promise was.)

If there's a WP during this AB I'm going to throw the remote through the window. Prescient. Kong76 wrote: This Harper dude is gonna be a thorn in our sides for many years to come. Yup. Enjoyable game, outcome notwithstanding. Walked up and asked for the $12 cheap seats, and they offered us $5 extra-cheap seats that I didn't even know existed. (Downselling? Bizarre.) Very similar to the feel of Citi Field, actually, in terms of layout and sightlines. The press boxes really are as high as GKR say they are; they almost seem out of place, they're so high. Odd. Made a visit to bmfc and his sons, who all seem like very good dudes. Nats fans, by and large, a pretty agreeable bunch. LOTS of orange and blue in the crowd, way more than I expected, but very friendly all around. Had a nice discussion with a guy in front of me who's taking the train up next week to see the Nats at Citi; told him that I thought it was a comparable park. Two thumbs up for everyone involved except Jason Bay, who is completely worthless out there, and the entire bullpen, obviously.
