  2. Submitting my resume now.
  3. That's not to say someone couldn't buy another franchise and move it to Binghamton in 2014. Not that they would, but a lot can happen between now and then.
  4. I think when it comes to these kinds of offseason roster decisions, you keep the guys who have enough value that you might use them this year -- like Burke -- that you don't want a competitor stealing from you, while not protecting the guys, like Aderlin Rodriguez and Jefry Marte, who teams will hopefully see as too young to make an impact RIGHT NOW.
  5. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT
  6. Maybe in Spring Training, because he's never done much of anything against us in the regular season. 5-20 with a double.
  7. I can think of guys who did two (Weathers Mets/Marlins, Person Mets/Jays), but I can't place either of those guys on the third team, as much as I want to.
  8. I love OOTP. Edgardo Alfonzo homered three times on Opening Day 1999 for me a few weeks ago; just started the 2000 season 0-4 before beating Philly twice. Saw that Bobby Witt was on the waiver wire toward the end of the 1999 season; gave him a look but passed when I saw his recent stats: 1992 TEX 8-15, 5.10 1993 PIT 10-13, 4.35 1994 MIL 0-20, 8.85 1995 ATL 10-13, 6.13 1996 COL 3-19, 8.51 1997 PIT 5-18, 6.57 1998 PIT 3-13, 6.51 1999 PIT 3-17, 7.85 That's a tough stretch.

Ans while they're in there, I'd serve hotdogs, sauerkraut, chili and beer. Then I'd lock the door and windows and tell them they can't get out to a bathroom until a contract extension has been signed by both parties. Later Agree on all counts. Seriously, what else do you have going on right now, fellas?

While PGE Park could be used as an interim facility, its an exceptional longshot now that it has been converted into a soccer-only venue. Getting into PGE Park means getting around MLS, and given the immense popularity of soccer in Portland, the odds of that are exceptionally long. yes. South American cities don't count.
  12. Seriously, you want this set. It's awesome.
  13. That's because he's coming back here for 2014. They just haven't told us yet.
  14. I remember that time he grounded out to short.

  16. Nishioka walked away from his contract with the Twins. So there's precedent there. But yep, I doubt Bay's leaving any money on the table. Maybe in the short term, but I'd bet it's likely a Bonilla-type deal, which I'm okay with.
  17. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yup, no more making out in the Applebee's parking lot at 31. You'll have to do it at the Olive Garden now.
  18. Anyone have the book? There's a good Anne Dickey photo in there.
  19. Thanks for the reminder. Done.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: the Angels have shaved a ton of money off their 2013 payroll (probably $40 million worth + they're declining the option on Toriiiii Hunter) but also now need to restock most of their rotation. Dickey, but only if they take Bay with him.
  21. Or not. Deal fell through, sez the internets.

  23. When I was a kid, I remember being fascinated that we had a Perez brother in our system. I wanted very much for him to do well. I used to play Micro League Baseball on the C64, and I had created a whole Mets universe; I played games, kept score, compiled stats, the whole nine. I still have oddly strong connections to guys like Chris Donnels and Lou Thornton and Terrel Hansen and Perez who did so much more for my fake Mets than they ever did for the real ones. I think Lou Thornton stole 100 bases for me one year. Even now, a bajillion years later, I have similarly odd attachments to my Out of the Park Baseball Mets. Yusmeiro Petit won a few Cy Young Awards in one of my iterations.
  24. Ooh, too tempting! Terms: For High School and College students only. That'd be amazing. "Hey, can I borrow the Twitter password for a minute or two?"
