  1. I'm Valentinian in my desire for position flexibility on my roster. My starting lineup right now is rock-solid, but everyone on my bench can play at least two positions. My pitching staff has been odd this year. Returned the whole cast from last season, when they were amazing, but have been all over the place this year. Signed Billy Wagner to a five-year extension, then he threw one pitch that night and gave up a walkoff home run.

  3. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Hey, we're Twitter pals now. Also, Mets beat guys seem to think Dickey gets traded in about 5 minutes to Texas, Toronto, Baltimore, Anaheim and A Special Guest Mystery Team. See, that's the great thing about rubber-armed knuckleballers. He can pitch on Monday for Texas, Tuesday for Toronto, Wednesday for Baltimore...
  4. BGS: Bay Groundouts to Short "Hall of Fame voters have to look at the fact that he lead the league in BGS every single year, even after he washed out with the Mets and signed with Seattle and won the 2013 AL MVP."
  5. NO to Dickey for Trumbo & Bourjos.
  6. Really wanted him to do well, what with the ADHD and all the Giants fans saying he was such a good guy and all that. But... we move on, and by 2018 I'll forget he was ever on the team.
  7. QTO: Quality Take Offs Good jumps when stealing a base. "Bay isn't all that fast, but he gets a good read off the pitcher. He leads the team in QTOs, which is why he's 12-for-13 in stolen bases this year."
  8. RealityChuck wrote: Elf started out excellently, but the second he left the North Pole, it turned to utter mediocre crap. But ZOOEY.
  9. Another top-notch pitching prospect given away for nothing. I don't get it.
  10. Awesomely, the Yankees replaced Alex Rodriguez with the only third baseman in all of organized baseball who they hate more than Alex Rodriguez. LIVING THIRD BASEMEN, in order of preference by Yankees fans: 1. Graig Nettles 2. Mike Pagliarulo 3. Aaron Bleeping Boone ... ... ... 8612. Some guy who hit .130 in the Mexican League 8613. A 57-year-old beer league softball player who strikes out every time up 8614. Alex Rodriguez 8615. Kevin Youkilis

  12. I'm intrigued.
  13. We just saw this recently too; I really enjoyed it.
  14. Which numbers, exactly, are you looking at? The .239 OBP last year? The 85 Ks and SEVEN walks? Olivo brings nothing to the table that you don't already get from Josh Thole, except MAYBE a little pop.
  15. Someone tell him that Movember is over.
  16. Yeah, how cool was that? Then they asked me to direct-message them but I can't because they're not following me. I guess I'll just wait for a regular response.
  17. Season opens today, I'd think it'd be Bixler on the 25 over Lagares.
  18. Hi-frickin-larious. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/fat-derek-jeter-meme
  19. I seem to remember Lannan killing us every time out, so I checked him out. Career: 42-52, 4.01 ERA vs Mets: 5-4, 3.46 ERA Career: 134 starts, 2 CG, 1 SHO vs Mets: 12 starts, 2 CG, 1 SHO So I'm more or less correct, although not as exaggeratedly as I'd think. Either way, I'd definitely give him a shot. Actually a bunch of arms on that list I'd take a shot at.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Mark Reynolds would be fun to pinch hit now and then. Because hey, somebody's gotta strike out in a big spot with Jason Bay not around.

  22. Edgy MD wrote: John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I think I could switch under the right circumstances. If for example I lived in another city and they had an admirable team. I would also root for the Mets but I'd only rule out the MFYs and Cardinals probably. I intend to root for the O's. But I'm not sure how much I'll actually care. I think it's different when you have kids. YOU WILL ROOT FOR THE METS. One of my best friends lives outside Philly; his daughters are becoming Phillies fans by osmosis, as hard as he tries to fight it.
  23. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: The whole point of the HoF is to tell the story of baseball excellence, yes? How do you tell the story of excellence in the last 20 years without Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Rage McTeenFucker? See, that's just it. That's one of my internal criteria for my HoF votes, which is why I'm going to have to bend on Bonds and McGwire at some point. (But not Clemens.)
  24. Should be in the Hall, methinks.
  25. Yes: Mike Piazza Craig Biggio Jeff Bagwell Edgar Martinez Tim Raines Alan Trammell Jack Morris Dale Murphy No: Roger Clemens Barry Bonds Rafael Palmeiro Mark McGwire Sammy Sosa Curt Schilling Larry Walker Lee Smith Don Mattingly Fred McGriff Bernie Williams Sandy Alomar Jr Tony Batista Jeff Cirillo Royce Clayton Jeff Conine Steve Finley Julio Franco Shawn Green Roberto Hernandez Ryan Klesko Mike Lieberthal Kenny Lofton Jose Mesa Damian Miller Reggie Sanders Aaron Sele Mike Stanton Jose Valentin Todd Walker David Wells Rondell White Bob Wickman Woody Williams I always vote for ten, but I'm leaving Walker and McGwire off right now. Bonds and Clemens are both no because I just don't like either of them.
