  1. I'm happy with the pick; I wish him the best. Welcome aboard, Mike.
  2. As we get ready to add another player (or two?) to this list, let's recap: Majors: Nathan (Detroit): 2-2, 6.86 ERA, 13 saves. Has been booed because he's given up eight runs in an inning and a third in his last three outings. "Still the closer," sez Brad Ausmus. Koehler (Miami): 5-5, 3.33 in twelve starts. Met killer. Slowed down since his hot start and walking too many guys. I still believe. Minors: Tropeano (AAA Houston): 3-4, 2.28 in 59 innings. Houston? We have a prospect. Jankowski (AA San Diego): .254/.324/.299 in 75 PA. Still recovering from his wrist injury. Cantwell (AA Texas): .569 OPS in 103 AB. I still believe. Carmona: .333 OPS in 85 AB with high-A Clearwater. Was released on May 23. Not currently playing anywhere as far as I can tell. (Hey, Ducks?) Tissenbaum (A+ Tampa): .276/.313/.321 in 134 AB. Splitting time between C and DH. Campbell (A Dodgers): 1-1, 4.91 ERA in four starts, but a 2.018 WHIP. On the DL. Rakkar (Chicago): hasn't started yet Johnson (Oakland): hasn't started yet
  3. And I'm hoping that at some point in the middle rounds, we PICK A FUCKING GUY FROM STONY BROOK THIS YEAR.

It allows an outfielder to reach above the wall, but not over and behind it. So I'd like to see the wall brought in two or three feet. (I imagine the railing fence can't really be pushed back without eliminating seats, but perhaps.) Agreed on this. Plus you then have to go to replay since the ball bounces back in. I don't know why it is so difficult to just make a wall. Because without the railing, people will fall onto the warning track, and the Wilpons can ill afford to kill off what few remaining fans they have that are willing to pay for Party City Party Deck tickets.
  5. I'd be way more impressed if Met Count Central accurately predicted as Mr. 1K a minor leaguer in someone ELSE'S system who we're going to pick up in trade (or sign as a minor-league FA) between now and 1000.
  6. Yeah, but this team SUCKS at home. Let 'em play the whole damn season on the road if it means they'll finally win a fecking game.
  7. (I've always thought of "bigpurpling" as one word.)
  8. I don't remember hating Billy Wagner that much either, for what it's worth.
  9. My 1999 Mets got no-hit last night by Jamie Moyer (7 2/3, six walks) and Miguel Batista (1 1/3, two walks), then Bill Pulsipher, after pitching 8 2/3 scoreless himself, gave up a walkoff solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. Urg.
  10. Really? Why do we hate Mike DeFelice? APOSTROPHES ARE NOT LETTERS. O'Brien, Olson, O'Schwartz is alphabetical order.
  11. They made McReynolds retro jerseys? I NEED ONE.
  12. "I'M AN OLD WHITE MAN AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS RAP MUSIC. WHY CAN'T STEVE AND EYDIE PLAY A POST-GAME CONCERT? NOW THAT'S REAL MUSIC."
  13. Yeah, but all those years were pre-LaRussa, so they don't count for "Saves."

  15. Yeah, that coach is definitely Minnie Minoso. I was disappointed that nobody signed him to get an AB in the 1990s.
  16. Just finished reading Mookie's book. He's kinda pissed at the way the org treated him the last several years.
  17. Does anyone else notice that we seem to be more African-American-heavy than the MLB average? Both Youngs, Granderson, coaches Goodwin and Johnson, plus Hawkins and Byrd last year. You read about the dearth of black players in MLB every spring, but we seem to be doing pretty well.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Denny Walling totally never got with the mustachioed batting coach program. Which was odd, because he was mustachioed in his playing days.
  19. Managed to be a hitting coach for four seasons without his players getting a single hit.
  20. In case any of all y'all need help on these: http://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/multifranchise.shtml Edgy MD wrote: Rocky Diamondback Met? Armando Reynoso, I guess. MetDodgerGiant?

  22. Mr. Mays would like to challenge "Joel Youngblood, GiantMet."
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Pedro is a Sock, more than anything. Mike Piazza is ultimate MetDodger. Oh. Duh.
  24. Did we ever do a discussion of the all-time "Met/Team X" guys? Guys who are recognizably associated with both franchises. Pedro Martinez maybe being the ultimate MetDodger, for example.
