  2. I didn't even remember he had moved there until I saw him on campus when our baseball teams played each other a few weeks ago.

  4. It is entirely possible that this series will be the first time in MLB history where both teams will lose all three games.
  5. [if trading is what you want to do, trade him for somebody else whose stock is down, and just try real hard to be smarter than the other team. Don't fear the market because the stock is down. Be the smart ones. Some days you pick somebody else's pocket and some days you're on a one-way bus to Turnerville or McHughston. There are 29 teams that want him at some level. The old "change of scenery" trade. I wouldn't be averse to that. I even have a suggestion. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gausmke01.shtml

He/she has come up with some clever ones in the early going so far. The organist is on Twitter, and he's a fantastic follow because he'll actually crowdsource what songs to play for the visiting teams. It's excellent. [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. Not for nothing, friends, but TK has been mostly terrible this season. We WANT tonight's game to happen.
  10. I know he's a good dude, but at some point, you just need to cut bait.
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Somewhat surprisingly, given how awful he was until just recently, Jose Reyes is the only remaining player to have appeared in every game this season. I'm starting to think that his deathwatch has shifted to Curtis Granderson. Reyes is riding a 7-game hitting streak, at least. Granderson's OPS+ is 4. FOUR. FOUR.[/bigpurple] Among all 185 MLBers with enough qualifying ABs, he's the worst. By a lot. His .124 BA and .177 OBP are both the worst, and it's only his triple and home run that keeps his .213 SLG ahead of Byron Buxton of the Twins.
  12. G-Fafif wrote: Juan Lagares is so good he can cover most of the alphabet, from f to v. No, he's sharing his c.v. tonight, which includes three peer-reviewed papers published in Centerfielders Quarterly.
  13. Centerfield wrote: Adam Wilk. 5.60 ERA Ricky Knapp. doesn’t offer an incredibly high ceiling or premier stuff Tyler Pill. does not overpower hitters Wilfredo Boscan. projects as an 11th man on a staff Donovan Hand. 7.16 ERA We're entirely fucked.
  14. Years ago, I had a middle reliever win 20 games in OOTP. He had twelve or thirteen late in the season, so I decided to put him in every chance I could for him to get a legitimate bullpen W. He reached 20, which was cool, until the following offseason when he demanded a Cy Young-like salary bump. Sorry, pal.
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: But at least they scored ten runs! That's how you know it didn't actually happen.

I didn't know any better at first and just followed my Little League teams the first couple of years (Cardinals, Cubs) but couldn't bring myself to like the Twins that following spring. The rest, as they say, is history.

  18. Edgy MD wrote: So who is your callup, dudes? Nimmo, because otherwise you're starting the clock on the others. I'd cut Granderson and Reyes and call up Taijeron and Rosario. But it's not my money.
  19. Methead wrote: I'm actually glad I forgot they were playing a day game. Probably for the best.
  20. d'Kong76 wrote: Not burning bridges is always the way to go; especially these days when everyone's undies are flappin' in the breeze. Yeah, all these folks are going to want jobs. Gotta take the high road.
  21. cooby wrote: That guy with the beard doing jerks will have no elbows soon BREAKING: Mets sign Beardo From the Barwis Video to a four-year, $66 million contract, and place him on the 60-day DL.

  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Braves catchers have 7 RBIs in the last 14 innings. Mets catchers have 11 RBIs this season. And d'Arnaud hurt himself just reading that stat.
