  2. You could have an Alan Zinter in there! ALAN ZINTER!
  3. THERE'S GOLD IN THERE, DGW! (Well, not really.)
  4. It's outside the context of this discussion, but I saw an interesting post a few days ago that surmised that the Mets don't want to bring up Rosario until they've purged the clubhouse of the Reyes/Cabrera types who might be a negative influence on him. Probably just spitballing, but it was an interesting thought.
  5. You're up by six. If you're a major league pitcher, even with two runners on base, it's the bottom of the fucking order. Get the guys out, Sewald. This is why baseball games take six hours.
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: As I mentioned at the time, I was thinking the exact opposite concerning the Carpenter/Voit swap. Not that Matheny planned it or anything but, just when the blow-out was chipped down to a four-run gap, the early switch brings up the guy most likely to 'run into one' as the tying run w/the bases loaded. I mean, sure, Carpenter is more likely to keep the rally going than Voit, but at the time I was more worried about a dagger slam and was counting my blessings that it wasn't Robles out there. Yeah, that was where I was glad that Reed was in the game, because Terry might have been tempted to leave Blevins (my dad: "He kind of looks like an accountant.") in there for one more lefty.
  7. Beautiful night for baseball. Brought my dad, and we sat in LF, first row, right on the wall. Those first two innings were glorious -- EVERYTHING was hit hard, even the outs. Cardinals fan next to me from Texas who was actually a very good dude despite his MOLINA 4 jersey, complaining the whole time. "All season with Leake. All season." He wasn't happy with Matheny emptying his bench in the fifth inning, either. When Voit came up in the eighth with the bases loaded, I said "much happier facing this guy than Carpenter" and he was like "EXACTLY." Totally wanted to go up and see the SNY guys but didn't feel like making the hike all the way up there. Also, Kase said he'd stop down but TOTALLY DIDN'T.

We were onto this guy early! http://archives.thecranepool.net/11700/f1_t11720.shtml Funny thread about what turned out to be a terrible draft, beyond Matz, with good debate not only about Matz' Fake Fandom but about how asinine it was to cost ourselves draft picks by signing Wagner and Rodriguez. Good catch by OO in there: OlerudOwned wrote: The Angels drafted one Mike Trout yesterday, edging him along the path to his destiny, an AL West Highlander-type struggle with Mike Carp.

  10. Edgy MD wrote: Thumbs are the worst. Unless they think there's a chance that Correa won't entirely return, there's no need for Houston to deal, as they're up by 15 1/2. I think they need a clubhouse leader type like Cabrera. And Granderson. And Duda. And Harvey.
  11. Going to feel good to root for Bartolo again.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Las Vegas scored eight last night, with two hits each from Smith and Rosario. Of course, they gave up 22. TWENTY-TWO! At least that means the pitching staff is major-league ready.
  13. Ceetar wrote: Heard someone suggest an Augmentative Reality ump instead, which is a really cool idea. He'd literally be able to see the floating strike zone. As opposed to an Argumentative Reality Ump, which we already have in Angel Hernandez.
  14. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: I'm just saying, if Quintana gets you Eloy-plus, then Dutch Boy gets you... ...a fucking riot at Citi Field, because he's like the only guy we have left to root for.
  15. Quintana trade broken on Reddit by KatyPerrysBootyHole & Wetbutt23 last night, by the way: http://deadspin.com/katyperrysbootyhole-and-wetbutt23-broke-the-jose-quinta-1796888271 I guess we figured out one of Ken Rosenthal's Reddit handles.

He was born July 31, 1983, while America took off on a West Coast trip. I like how you ignored like half the roster for this quiz. Raises the difficulty level. I'm pretty sure that our set of Twins are Jay Bruce, who played against the Twins once, and...

  18. Just thinking of former Twins. I'm pretty sure that our set of Twins are former Twin Neil Ramirez and...
  19. I'm pretty sure that our set of Twins are former Twin Tommy Milone and...
  20. Rene Rivera is, say, "Scrooged?" (I'm too braindead today to try making puns.)
  21. Addison Reed for "Rambo," then?
  22. Then I'll guess Addison Reed for "Black Rain."
  23. I'm just saying that if I had Judge on my fantasy team, I would trade the shit out of him right now.
  24. Then Kevin Long is the Steve McQueen one ("Sand Pebbles"?)
  25. Gwreck wrote: It's like they never learn. All lefties to face Miller. No pinch runner for Molina. Managerial malpractice by Maddon by doing all of those stupid substitutions. You can't PR for the catcher because they'd have nobody else to catch.
