  2. seawolf17 wrote: But dammit, Sandy, you gotta get this fuckin' guy signed. Ten years, $300 million, 25% of the team, and you rename it Wright Field. I don't care. Just fucking sign the guy. Apparently, I was all in on the contract.
  3. Edgy MD wrote: He lasted longer than The Fox. Right, but what did he SAY?
  4. Centerfield wrote: Mets Willets Point wrote: Moose Stubing sounds like an unhealthy practice. Cue Fman. I actually had to check to the left to confirm it wasn't him.
  5. Gotta figure out what you've got for next year. You've got 17 games left or whatever: The infield should be Smith/Cecchini/Reynolds(Rosario)/Evans(Flores), with Reyes and Cabrera getting maybe 6-8 more starts each wherever. Your outfield should be Nimmo/Lagares/Taijeron, with Reyes spotted out there a half-dozen times or so. Rotate the three catchers so you get Nido and Plawecki at least 3-5 starts each. You know what you've got in Cabrera and Aoki.
  6. G-Fafif wrote: I've gotta believe that if you were a fan of a team that didn't play the Mets in 2017 and these names were thrown in front of you, you might not get the ballclub on the first try. I literally said the same thing the other night to my friend at the game about the Reds' lineup of Ervin-Peraza-Votto-Duvall-Gennett-Suarez-Schebler-Barnhart-Garrett. (If it wasn't for Joey Votto in the middle, anyway.)
  7. Benjamin Grimm wrote: A lineup posted as a list of Twitter handles instead of names? Sheesh. Good for Jason Heyward! It's "Social Media Night," apparently.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: 10. Bobby Jones 714 11. Jacob deGrom 713 No confirmation on the story that Bobby's sitting in the hallways of Citi Field waiting to pull a Tonya Harding.
  9. I want more and more for the Dodgers to blow this lead, just so it gets the 2007 Mets off the schneid.
  10. Eight just now! (Missed the four oldest ones.)
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Somehow, I didn't recognize "Egyptian Healy". Fran's grandpa?
  12. Edgy MD wrote: "There's a lot of questions like I'm dying," Wright said. "I'm not dying." OMG THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT A DYING PERSON WOULD SAY PLEASE DON'T DIE DAVID
  13. I would totally go, except it's the MFYs. Eff that. If the Rays were fighting for a playoff spot, they'd be within their rights to be upset about their competitors getting three bonus home games.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: So it appears that irregularities in the Tourette's "charity" that Carton ran is at least part of what tipped the Feds off. Not that he'd be the first celebrity douche whose high-profile fund-raisers did more to raise his/her own awareness than that of its stated goal. But in this case it's suspected that, instead of the usual route where the majority of the funds are eaten up by high overhead and limo rides to lure shoulder-rubbing celebrities, these were mostly funneled into the C.C. gambling debt relief effort. The good news is, now Carton's qualified for a position in the White House!
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I easily recognized Ron Darling, of course, but I also got the Baltimore Oriole. I just looked at him and said, "Oh, that's Al Bumbry!" I don't know how the hell I knew that. If I had to list 500 Baltimore Orioles, I don't think I would have ever thought of Al Bumbry. I remember nothing about Al Bumbry. But somehow I recognized his face at a glance. Me too. That has to be a baseball card picture. I got four in this batch (Ronnie, Bumbry, Smalley, and Avery). I don't think I've known a single black & white picture yet.
  16. We'll be in section 132 tonight.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Do ya think he might have consulted with doctors and family about this? It's not about doctors and family, FK. IT'S ABOUT OUR NEEDS ONLY. Seriously, I want very much for David Wright to be on the field when we win the World Series. And I want him to break the all-time Mets HR record. He's the uber-Met. I do understand the hand-wringing over financial flexibility and roster planning, but realistically, it's just a game and I want to root for the guys I like.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Thump is everywhere. I'm looking for a guy with a glittery .400 OBP.
  19. Two two-game midweek Jays series, both bookended by off-days. Expecting crossing the border to be more difficult next year, I guess.
  20. I've spent some time logging things at Sports Passport, and I highly recommend it: https://sportspassport.com/travelers/cdorso
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: He wasn't scalping, just pretending to have a lucrative ticket biz so that other scumbags would give him $$ to pay off his gambling debts. How he got to that level ought to be interesting. Yeah, this story's going to have some serious legs when it's all said and done. What a dumbass.
  22. We're potentially looking at minimum-payroll guys at (at least) three full-time spots in 2018: 1B, SS, and LF (if Conforto is healthy). So there's that.
