Mariners bullpen blows 9th inning lead without Putz in there and costs King Felix (and my best fantasy team) the win today.
  2. Ugh, this Mets team couldn't hit their way out of a nutsack today.

I've been watching the Angels/Rangers tilt on MLB EI. Jered Weaver's got some filthy stuff.

  6. Santana gets his first chance to be the stopper.

Oh that's gonna stick ... a) does Jeets own any Yankee apparel? does he wear it to games? c) has he ever participated in "roll call" or clap when each player acknowledges? d) does he know stadium personnel by name? e) how many times a year can he be spotted in monument park? f) has he ever posed for picture with Freddie Sez or taken one of him? We're gonna get to the root of this once and for all for the good of all Mets baseball boards. Does Jeets bleed navy blue or blue and orange swirl? Submit your vote to 1-800-YANKFAN. Don't forget the cologne...

What really has helped them stay out of that team-to-beat chatter is that the Braves just aren't yappers. They don't teach that Yapping 101 course at Robert Cox University, apparently. Ick. Apparently they also don't have a Phys Ed requirement at that school.

In our household we definitely watch it enough to make it pay, but you know your viewing habits better. I'd much rather watch an out of market game than almost anything on television these days. That's my mindset also.

I watched the Jays/Sox tilt on MLB Extra Innings. I'm real close to ordering it, even without any extra HD games included in the cost.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Those may have been road games, but they were home crowds. Given the low expectations for the Marlins, and the huge number of transplants who live in Florida, I have a feeling that a lot of the games played in Miami will have more fans rooting for the visitors than for the Marlins. I've never attended a Mets game in Miami but did go to one in Montreal back in 1998 or 1999. It was quite the pro-Mets crowd and very surreal to be such a vocal presence in the enemy's park.

It freaks me out, but apparently, a guy can "play" by batting every time through the order, but never taking the field. I know, right? Talk about bush leagues. Whoo. The pitcher still hits when both teams are NL affiliates, but that only happens for about a 1/4th of the schedule. Same rules apply in all AA and AAA leagues. I never knew that... the Chiefs have been a Blue Jays affiliate since I moved here, so I've never been to a minor league game between two NL affiliates that I can recall.
  15. Hmmm. I was just combing the rosters of the '86, '99 and '00 Mets teams for pages that are available for sponsorship. I noticed a couple of Willets Point's pages that also point back to the CPF. I have long considered sponsoring a page but didn't know what to put. Maybe I'll get me one of these Mets and point it back here.

Nice advertising for the site. That's not $45 apiece, is it? I am guessing that that is the total.
  17. Look at me -- treating the competition the way Moises treats his hands.
  18. I would like to punch each of them in the neck. That's the great thing about the neck punch. No one sees it coming and no one defends the neck from a punch.
  19. I'll take the Texas series, thanks.

  22. Flipped over to the Phils/Nats.
  23. Home with sick child... watching SD/Houston. This Extra Innings package is pretty sweet on getaway day.
  24. I know he drafted Wright... he also tried, unsuccessfully, to trade him to Toronto for Jose Cruz Jr. at one point, IIRC.
  25. soupcan wrote: What's the deal with the park in 'Cuse? When I was there (early to mid '80s) I think it was called MacArthur Field and the Syracuse Chiefs (who I think were the Jays affiliate) played there. Didn't they build a new place and the team name changed to SkyChiefs I think, right? I saw the Tides play there once or twice - Magadan, El Sid and maybe Shaun Abner. They tore down MacArthur Park which had been built back in the 1930s, so they could move into a new park with luxury boxes. Sounds familiar somehow... The new park is nice enough, if not a bit generic. It's biggest drawback has been the use of phony baloney turf a la the Skydome. I understand they're converting to grass for this season so that should help. The team has been Toronto's affiliate for a number of years. They actually changed the name back to the Chiefs a year or two ago. They are perennial cellar-dwellars unfortunately. My wife and I have lived in Syracuse since 2000 and we've gone to 6-8 games per season. Cheap seats (the best box seats cost $8) and quality baseball. I've seen the Mets minor league team a few times, including one of Traschel's starts when Valentine sent him down to get his shit together.
