  1. Had a nap. Still pretty beat. Might need another snooze before the first pitch.
  2. https://nypost.com/2019/05/31/mets-analyst-nelson-figueroa-fired-from-sny/Nelson Figueroa fired from his SNY desk job, sez the Post. "Figueroa was let go Friday morning after he showed up Thursday in what was described by sources as a state not fit to work. Figueroa allegedly demanded to still appear on SNY's evening program, 'Baseball Night in New York,' but was not permitted to appear." That's a shame. Enjoyed his in studio work. Hopefully he gets some help.
  3. Wilmer and a bunch of other guys.
  4. Dom Smith is a legitimate hitter now. Good to see.
  5. First innings I've watched all week. Had a nap today.
  6. I've been avoiding these games and apparently that's not really a bad thing. I don't even want to tune in to the start of tonight's game for fear of being asked to relive last night, 100% of which I've avoided so far today.
  7. We were there on Sunday for round 1 of this "skirmish." I've seen my nephews whomp on each other with ten thousand times the vitrol of this.
  8. Oh good, we're back to the jerking off contest. I'll get the paper towels.
  9. =G-Fafif post_id=11368 time=1559087220 user_id=55] Rajai has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Syracuse. Can declare himself a free agent. Let's hope he stays and returns.
  10. He's got a massive head. He looks like a watermelon balanced on top of a paper towel roll. Having said that, I got my first two Syracuse Mets games in this past weekend, Friday night with Fboy, and then Sunday night with my mother in law, wife and kids. They lost both games (6-4 Friday, 11-6 Sunday), and in both games they were either winning or tied as late as the 6th inning only to have the bullpen cough it all up. As for the changes from it being a Syracuse Chiefs game to a Syracuse Mets game, well, I appreciated it. They updated the park with lots of Mets and orange/blue color changes. They have tons of NY and SYR Mets gear in the gift shop and there were TONS of Mets fans in attendance. Maybe some are recent converts, or more of them came out of the woodwork, but I saw just as much people wearing NY Mets gear as I did Syracuse Mets gear. My biggest complaint (aside from the bullpen) was their inability to correctly deploy any kind of "Let's Go Mets" chant. They put it up there in between innings? What's the point of that? I know the GM, I'm going to send him a note this week.
  11. Turned it off at 6-3, saw a bit later that it was 8-3 and didn't look back. Nice that they made it interesting but that's not going to do it for me, not with 10:10 first pitches for the next week+.
  12. I turned it off. Thanks anyhoo
  13. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I spent memorial day adding some pavers to my backyard hangout and tonight am enjoying the game with beer and fire and Howie That sounds pretty damn great. I was just lamenting the fact that I'll be missing most of the next several games due to the late starts.
  14. Love to see the bats waking up here! LGM!
  15. I thought that too, I'd love to take in a game there, if only it weren't so far away.
  16. I haven't really ever listened to X before. Makes me want to break stuff. Sadly I'm in my own home and that's not practical.
  17. Hey, 2700 career hits. An All Star. A batting title. Pretty damn fine career, errant WS grounders notwithstanding.
  18. Listened to the last few innings on my deck courtesy of XM, Howie & the other guy. Good times.
  19. Listened to the first half on my deck and watched the 2nd half while cooking, eating and then cleaning up after dinner. Good stuff there.
  20. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I've probably told the story before of what a dick Billy Ripken was to me, and other people, when I came across him as a 23-year-old clueless reporter. I worked a small daily paper in Maryland, mostly writing about high-school sports but when the Orioles had day games we could call them up and get press passes so we'd divide the games between us. The first time I got the chance to go turned out to be a very humbling major league debut to say the least. I was very nervous and so resolved just to follow the other writers and just do what they did. They hung out on the field watching batting practice and so I did too. I kept score in the press box, but was positioned a few rows back. After the game (a 6-5 win for the Red Sox) the writers all rushed over the elevator (this was Memorial Stadium) so I got in too. When they walked out, I followed them. We were waiting outside a door and when it opened, we walked into the visitor's clubhouse. As it turned out I had followed the Boston writers and not the Baltimore ones. That was okay though. I figured I'd get a quote from the winners then catch up with the O's. I spoke briefly to Wade Boggs who gave me some bullshit cliche quotes. ("we take em one game at a time") and zero insight. Me and Wade were also wearing the same model sneakers (white Nikes with a spongy red tongue, he was putting his on while I tried talking to him) but he didn't find that interesting as an ice breaker. Whatever. I exited to go get my O's quotes but... I couldn't find the clubhouse. It was exactly like Spinal Tap, I was walking around the guts of the stadium for what seemed like a really long time, encountering the same deadends everywhere I turned etc. By the time I found it Frank Robinson's postgame chat with reporters was just ending and many players were already showered and packing out. The only player in the clubhouse I was recognized well was Billy Ripken, so I decided he would have to be my quote. While I was waiting to approach him Ripken was on the bench changing. The O's had a retarded guy who worked as a clubby, pushing around a laundry cart collecting dirty unis and jockstraps and towels from the room. I watched Billy Ripken take off each of his stinky white sanitaries and toss them each into the cart by banking them off the retarded guy's face. I finally approached him: "Billy do you have a minute?" "No." "Sorry?" "You asked me if I had a minute, and I said no." End of interview. I was so humiliated by the whole experience, getting lost, getting shit quotes and getting no home-team stuff, I would up doing something I never did before or since, which was "steal" a quote from Robinson appearing in the AP write up hoping no one would notice, and of course no one did since nobody ever read my game story. What I really should have done was ask about and write about the sweatsock incident. That's great. You should have said, "Hey, Fuck Face, thanks a ton."
  21. =dgwphotography post_id=10989 time=1558697538 user_id=78] I can't be the only viewer, when seeing Billy Ripken on MLB Network, who thinks, “Hey, it's F*ck Face.”
  22. Also, got a hotel not far from Pittsburgh for the night of Saturday, August 3rd, as Fboy and I are driving down that afternoon for the game at PNC park. Due to $12 mark up fees per ticket, we're going to wait and just buy seats at the box office when we get to the stadium (they seem to have many empty seats most nights).
  23. Last chance to join the Fkids and I on Wed Aug 7th before I get tickets this weekend, somewhere in the 200's. Let me know and I'll sync up with you over PM.
  24. Not allowing fans to go downstairs is shitty. Even if you have to make people ask for a shoppers' pass. That's some corporate elitism run amok.
  25. Edgy MD wrote: Santiago must be pissed. He's been waiting around for three days to get his name called and Rajai arrives out of nowhere and gets into a game before him? I bet Hector had already gotten a 1079 tattoo. Posts that overemphasize the importance of the minutiae of this forum are consistently funny to me.
