We've been watching Gilbert for the better part of two seasons here in AAA. I haven't been overly impressed for the most part.

Late night baseball is pretty far out of my reach. I'm old and tired. Having said that, this weekend series coincides with a family trip to Boston to do touristy stuff, so at least I will be able to watch the Sunday night ESPN game from our hotel. I expect to miss most to all of tomorrow's game and maybe catch a few innings Saturday night on XM.

Had no idea that yesterday's game was an afternoon one. Got in my ride to drive to a gig and heard Howie with the recap. D'oh !

Watched it and enjoyed it. Lots of innings done eaten up by the pen.

I feel far less compelled of late to watch this team. A busy weekend means I miss a big chunk of the early innings, and when I put it on they're losing big, or they're losing and get the tying run up to the plate only to flail uselessly at the ball. There are a hundred things I'd rather do than watch that over and over again, thanks.

I thought perhaps that was the confusion. Lakeland, NY is just a few miles south of where I live, and home to the New York State Fairgrounds also.

Ok so now what do we do for three days This forced Thursday off day for all of MLB is the one I find most annoying. It used to be that 6-8 teams would play on the Thursday after the ASG. We talked about this in the latest episode of https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mets-on-tap-episode-92-talking-all-stars/id1558213831?i=1000717489843"Mets on Tap" (but I know you all know this because you all like, subscribe, and rate us 5 stars of course) and Ceetar had the idea that there should be a single prime time game, like the Sunday night game (but with better broadcasters). Give us something. What am I supposed to do, watch a fucking cop show ?

I was surprised to learn that this was Lindor's first ASG start, all of his previous CLE appearances were as a reserve. Good on him, he deserved it this year (and last year of course).

The HR derby tie breaker is especially terrible. I was long done with the game at that point.

I listened to the majority of this on XM with Raad + Recker while floating in my pool drinking hard seltzer. Tough life. (Recker stinks.)

Brandon Waddell has been the bulk pitcher 4 times since June 13 (July 10, July 6, July 2, June 28). The Mets are 0-4. Justin Hagenman has been the bulk guy 2 times. (July 4, June 19). The Mets are 1-1. Paul Blackburn has 3 starts and 1 relief appearance during this stretch. (June 28, June 23, June 18, June 13). The Mets are 0-4. Blade Tidwell has made 3 starts (July 2, June 27, June 20). The Mets are 1-2. Overall, their record in these 13 games is 2-11. I get not wanting to bring up McLean/Sproat to make a spot start. But this is now nearly a month of starts that the kids could have been making.

Missed all of this one. Had it in my brain that game 2 was a 7 PM start, not a 5 PM start. Tuned in at 7:05 to see them losing big. Went outside and played my guitar on my front step instead. Won't subject myself to awful baseball. -
We saw him pitch six scoreless with 10 K's here in Syracuse yesterday. Kid has the goods.

Great day at the ballpark for FGirl and I as the Syracuse Mets came back from a 1-0 hole in the bottom of the 9th to score two runs and walk it off. They are 11-3 in the second half, putting them in first place in that regard. Alvarez went 0-3 but drew a walk with one out in the 9th to start the winning rally. Acuna was announced to be in the lineup but was a late scratch
