  1. 4. John Cangelosi?
  2. That's a strong group of finalists. Stronger than the HoF ballot! [bLOCKQUOTE]The 10 finalists were: Joe Buck, Gary Cohen, Jacques Doucet, Tom Hamilton, Ernie Johnson Sr., Ken Korach, Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper, Dan Shulman and Castiglione.[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  3. [bLOCKQUOTE]could be more of a steven kwan type player[/bLOCKQUOTE] While Kwan may be of Korean descent, he's as American as apple pie: born in California and drafted out of Oregon State.
  4. Two hitting coaches? A bench coach and a separate strategy coach??
  5. I'd prefer Luis G. over this guy. Over lots of guys, actually.
  6. 2/24 for Maeda is a very good deal. Wish we had explored him at that price and for that duration
  7. Among those non-tendered there are a few with Metly pedigree: Dom Smith, Thomas Szapucki, and--more recently if only tangentially, Penn Murfee
  8. 3. Rich Becker.
  9. Didnt he participate in a CPF chat several years ago? Or am I conflating him with someone else?
  10. Howard Johnson. Taijuan Walker.
  11. [bLOCKQUOTE] by MFS62 » Sat Oct 28, 2023 7:22 pm Justin Turner Later[/bLOCKQUOTE] See post 2 to this thread.
  12. Hubie Brooks Gregg Jeffries
  13. I took the question to mean guys who played for the Mets and were never All Stars for them, but who left and then became one...so Kingman and Seaver wouldn't count?
  14. Both teams went from 100 losses just two years ago to the WS this year. That's cool. I usually root for the NL squads but with the adoption of the DH (and even the end of league-specific umpires long ago) there really isn't much of a difference these days. I like Tommy Pham. I like the Rangers uniforms. That's where I am.
  15. Fun question. Off the top of my head: Jeff Kent Jason Isringhausen Justin Turner Jeff Reardon
  16. The Mariners had two Japanese on the same team---Ichiro and Kaz Sasaki--and each made the AL all-stars during the same seasons IIRC
  17. Gotta be headed to the HoF. Right?
  18. Other notable Baseball United signings: Didi Gregorius Pablo Sandoval Andrelton Simmons Limited owners include Barry Larkin, Mariano Rivera, and Adrian Beltre.
  19. 75 wins. Worse than Pittsburgh AND Detroit. Sheesh
  20. The A's are actually better than the Royals. Sheesh
  21. Immaculate Grid #4, Rarity Score of 62: 40HR/SS - Rafael Palmeiro (.6%) COL/SS - Troy Tulowitzki (9%) MVP/SS - Ken Griffey Jr (3%) 40HR/NYY - Aaron Judge (19%) COL/NYY - Joe Girardi (3%) NYY/MVP - Thurman Munson (4%) 300BA/40HR - Alex Rodriguez (6%) 300BA/COL - Larry Walker (16%) 300BA/MVP - Joe Mauer (2%)
  22. [bLOCKQUOTE]"Kyle Schwarber has 37 homeruns and a negative WAR. How is that even possible?" Where do I start?[/bLOCKQUOTE] This is a good place--- exploring Dante Bichette's 1999 "Worst Great Season": https://www.offthebenchbaseball.com/2022/06/06/the-absolute-worst-great-season-ever/#:~:text=298%20BA%2C%2034%20homers%2C%20and,with%20%2D2.3%20WAR%20or%20worsehttps://www.offthebenchbaseball.com/2022/06/06/the-absolute-worst-great-season-ever/#:~:text=298%20BA%2C%2034%20homers%2C%20and,with%20%2D2.3%20WAR%20or%20worse.
  23. I think Grifol is done. The new GM will want to build his own team, including the manager. I still cant figure out what the last guy in St Louis did to get run out of town, so maybe Marmol sticks around to prevent any "I told you so" critics. Nevin cant win with the two best players on the planet, so I think he's gone, too, even if it's not necessarily his fault.
  24. I had purchased tickets for a Mets-Braves tilt in April that was rained out. (I bought them in February as part of the SuperBowl 57 promotion). I decided to "cash them in" today before my daughter heads off to grad school. It was a great day-- I really liked the earlier start, and loved the end result.
  25. Hank Aaron--Prince Fielder--Robin Yount David Palmer--Larry Parrish--Andre Dawson Jeff Blauser--Fergie Jenkins--Ron Santo
