  1. I like this only if Cano plays 1B. McNeil showed enough to handle second (and I'm high on TJ Rivera coming back strong). I thought Swarzak was good enough, when healthy. Bruce deserves a fresh start. This is a high risk/high reward proposition. Beats the hell out of signing Jeff Conine or whoever else is on the discount rack but I'd have rather held onto future assets than acquire past All Stars.
  2. Number 4 will always be Bruce Armand Boisclair.
  3. Earlier this year the championship baseball team from my school was allowed on field to watch BP Several Mets (and some Pirates) came by to sign autographs, and Frazier engaged in some great banter-- giving his bat and batting gloves to some of the kids who were ribbing him. Hard to imagine the Mets doing that for a group of college kids and not some middle-schoolers. Sad and sorry to hear of your kids' disappointment.
  4. Ivan Rodriguez and Jason Giambi. Pretty sure I'd be a juiced up 'roid freak had I played.
  5. Not playing at Citi on Memorial Day (Los Angeles), Independence Day (no game at all), or Labor Day (Washington).
  6. Carlos Baerga.
  7. I don’t believe the window is closing on this core. deGrom and Noah are still young and under control. Nimmo and Conforto are stars. Rosario still has great potential. Lugo and Gsellman are weapons in the pen and Alonso is on his way. Are you drunk? I agree that deGrom and Noah are young and controllable. Beyond that you're hopelessly optimistic. Nimmo, Conforto, Rosario and Alonso (?) have shown little sustained ML production. The love affair with our young "stars" is baffling. Cespedes makes this lineup work-- without him they are punchless. This is a .500 team. Windows aren't closing because they were never open. They 11-1 start was a mirage.
  8. When the hell is Swarzak available? Or any of those half-dozen minor league middle relievers we acquired at the trade deadline?
  9. My wife and I are Mets fans. We lived in the SF Bay Area for 15+ years-- both our daughters were born and raised there. The Giants won three titles in six years, and we often went to their gorgeous stadium as a family. One day, the kids came home from school with "important news"-- they were Giants fans. I can't say I blame them.
  10. The Molina injury just increased the price of renting JT Realmuto.
  11. During his heyday I recall a WATP thread where virtually none of the posters here said they would deal Harvey straight up for the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton. How the mighty have fallen, indeed.
  12. This "Dark Knight" shit has to stop. He was the worst pitcher in the league last year. Let's get his act together before we come up with a branding campaign. I expect a very good year from Harvey, FWIW, but this nonsense hype is undeserved.
  13. Not an auspicious start for Matz-- 2 walks and 25 pitches in the first, 90 pitches through 4. I've seen too many starts like this from him to think that this is an aberration. Blech.
  14. Bruce: Plantar fasciatis. That's one of those pestering injuries that could really linger. Here's hoping it doesn't.
  15. It's hard to ever sympathize with a POS like Charlie Sheen-- but this made that happen. Lenny is a scumbag.
  16. I remember as a kid thinking it was cool that they had a white D on their home caps and an orange one on the road...but never knew the caps differed from the jerseys.
  17. Didn’t he have a reputation for stealing the wives of his teammates?
  18. Annoying 90's Cardinal: Jack Buck.
  19. Excellent quiz-- thanks for posting/sharing. Statues: I'll go with Carl Pohlad for the Twins.
  20. Shea Stadium Citi Field Yankee Stadium II Yankee Stadium III Stade Olympique Candlestick Park Fenway Park Oakland Coliseum AT&T Park By far, the best experience was at AT&T-- that stadium is gorgeous, and they got everything right.
  21. In various threads, you've suggested the Mets should (or should consider) bring(ing) back Reed, Walker, Bruce, Granderson, and Murphy. If they weren't good enough to keep now (or then), why do you think they should be courted later, when they are older?
  22. I recall not that many years ago a WATP thread where most(?) of us balked at a Harvey for Stanton swap Shows what we know
  23. Chicken Wolf? Any relation to Sea?
  24. If he needs surgery here's hoping its done soon, and not after a three month wait like Ceciliani.
  25. And didn't Giants shortstop Johnnie LeMaster once wear "BOO" on his jersey, since "that's what fans say when they see me..."
