  3. It seems that every time a regular for whom Wilmer Flores can take over gets hurt...so does Wilmer Flores. He needs to time his own injuries better. Or get hurt less frequently.
  4. is Mejia really still on the 40 man roster? If so, why?
  5. 2-1 on Bryant is kind of krazy. I'd take the field every time. There's nobody between Bryant (2-1) and Cespedes (25-1)?
  6. Coghlan

  8. Dillon Gee opted out of his dealio with the Rangers. Tossed six shutout innings yesterday, with nine strikeouts. Has had a pretty solid spring: "In 19 2/3 innings during Major League camp, Gee logged a 3.20 ERA with a stellar 18-to-3 K/BB ratio. While he’s been tagged for 25 hits, only one of those has left the yard for a home run." He'll latch on somewhere, for sure.

  14. He gets it-- I hope. Looking at that B-R page, he didn't earn a single vote for Rookie of the Year? Shit, even Kaz Matsui and Termel Sledge (!) got one each... http://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/awards_2004.shtml
  15. How can there be more first-round picks (44) than there are MLB teams (30)? Supplemental?

  20. yes, my bad on the second surgery statement-- I read he was seeking a second opinion, and my brain saw he was facing his second operation. nonetheless, a potentially crippling blow to the redbird rotation.
  21. Big loss for the Cardinals, as highly-touted P Alex Reyes out for the year with his SECOND Tommy John surgery. They moved some other starters to accommodate him in the rotation, so are now doubly-screwed.
  22. Ashie62 » Sun Feb 12, 2017 7:26 pm I am Jose Fernandez and I drove a boat under the influence of alcohol and cocaine and killed mysself and two friends. I don't know why MLB is having the Marlins wear a patch with my number on it. Did I become a role model? Oh, come on.... First, I doubt that "MLB is having the Marlins wear a patch..." This is most assuredly a franchise decision and not, say, a requirement that they wear an AllStar or Postseason patch, as required by the league. On his passing, owner Jeffrey Loria declared that the number would be retired and a suitable memorial erected, so generations of fans would remember JF. He was an immigrant, and a Cuban, in a city filled with both. The circumstances of his death are immaterial. if we held everyone to the standards of sobriety and good judgment, nobody would be enshrined in Cooperstown-- maybe not even in MFY Stadium III.
