  1. [bLOCKQUOTE]he Mets (according to Fangraphs.com) have improved their playoff likelihood from 0.7% to 2.5% over the last week, and despite that hiccup in the last game against St. Louis, reduced the Cardinals' chances from 0.7% to virtually nil.[/bLOCKQUOTE] The Mets have been unluckier than most. Their run differential (-29) is a dozen better than Miami (-41) but here we sit six games behind them in the standings (nine games under .500 as opposed to their three above). Even the Reds, at (-26) are playing at a playoff-caliber clip. C'est la vie.
  2. Carrasco is the least fun pitcher to watch. Playing behind him must be awful. Shades of Steve Trachsel, but with less positive results.
  3. After a red-hot start to the season the Pirates gave their manager a nice extension. I wonder how they feel about that decision now?
  4. A second Immaculate grid in the week for me, too. TEX/OAK - Elvis Andrus 15% TEX/BAL - Chris Davis 16% TEX/SS - Josh Hamilton 32% TOR/OAK - Josh Donaldson 26% TOR/BAL - Robbie Alomar 21% TOR/SS - Carlos Delgado 9% 3000H/A's - Rickey Henderson 88% 3000H/BAL -Cal Ripken Jr 67% 3000H/SS - Tony Gwynn 8%
  5. Finally off the schneid with my first immaculate grid.
  6. "Cloaked in humiliation"
  7. Same for me. STL/ANA - Poo Holes STL/CHC - Lou Brock STL/WS - Ozzie Smith HOU/ANA - Nolan Ryan HOU/CHC - (Joe Sambito!) HOU/WS - Jose Altuve ANA/300 SV - Troy Percival CHC/300 SV -Lee Smith WS/300 SV - Mo Rivera
  8. Protecting picks that would be lost due to exceeding the luxury-tax. I'm too lazy to search but iirc, they lost a pick for doing so, regardless of finish, but the penalty is much reduced if they are in the bottom tier in regards to W-L record as opposed to mid-to-higher tier.
  9. Ten days shy of vesting. If he remains in the minors for the rest of the season (or even if he returns for less than ten days) his FA status is delayed until 2027. In another thread someone suggested the Mets are tanking. I have to think there is something to that.
  10. His “big league foodie” account on Instagram was must follow. His support for LGBTQ community was honest and appreciated Good luck to a good guy
  11. [bLOCKQUOTE]What a dark obit[/bLOCKQUOTE] Seriously. Sheesh.
  12. Youngblood-Taveras-Graves.
  13. [bLOCKQUOTE]That's cool , good trade[/bLOCKQUOTE] A couple weeks ago I swapped a pair of bucket hats for access to the Delta Sky Club. That was sweet
  14. That Pirates logo is incredible.
  15. [bLOCKQUOTE]The Mets have been around just as long as the Astros, yet almost twice as many Mets played for the Dodgers compared to Astros[/bLOCKQUOTE] Probably because the infant Mets acquired a lot of former Brooklyn Dodgers to capture the fan base? Or because the Dodgers and Astros were NL West competitors and intra-division deals are few and far between?

  17. The Giant-Red I chose had Metly connections (and a .1% overlap with others who choose him).
  18. very cool! Thanks for sharing
  19. This team is just not very good. With more than a third of the season down, they are closer to the division basement than to first place, and find themselves looking up at teams such as Pittsburgh and San Francisco. I keep waiting for them to go on a tear, but I'm not sure they have a "ten wins in twelve games" type of stretch in them.
  20. I lived in the Bay Area for 15 years before moving back. My then-wife and I were and are big Mets fans. We tried to raise our daughters the same. One day, in the midst of three titles in five years, our girls came home and said they wanted to be Giants fans. And that was ok by me. In fact, after the Mets, the Giants might be my go-to-rooting interest
  21. [bLOCKQUOTE]I saw something yesterday that the A's are leaning towards 4 pm starts as their default starting time...their logic: people can go to the game and then still have time to hit the casinos afterwards...[/bLOCKQUOTE] lol casinos never close you can start a game at 11pm and there'd still be time to hit the casinos. I guess if you want to say "catch a game then catch a show" the start time matters but even a 7pm start now gets you on the strip by 10-1030
  22. JD Davis has more homers than any Met not named Pete Alonso, and a higher OPS than Brandon Nimmo. He's better than Canha and Escobar. This trade set the team back, badly, IMO.
  23. I lived in the Bay Area for fifteen years and went to a lot of games there. It really is a horrible stadium. Even then they were hurting for attendance, and the teams were good. On Wednesday afternoons they had "dollar days" where you could get tickets for a buck each---my buddy and I would buy five each and spread out with our toddlers and all their shit. At least when the Giants played in Candlestick there was comparative parity--both parks sucked. But when the Giants moved to that gorgeous stadium in the city while the A's rotted in the Coliseum there was a real awakening among the fanbase that they just didn't matter to ownership, or the city, or MLB. I hope they retain the green and gold when they move to Vegas and not trade it for something shiny and metallic.
  24. Bruce. Armond. Boisclair.
  25. Has to be a grandson-- there's a resemblance. As to Cardinalia, there's nobody more redbirdian than Dave Duncan, except maybe Jose Oquendo.
