  1. a quiet section would be an excellent thing for minimm, as he is no big fan of loud noises. if such a thing were offered, i would buy tickets to a game to sit there. i do not know that it would make me more likely to attend a game, but if i were to attend a game, i would attend it in that section. i would also attempt to synchronize it with a throwback day.

  13. and how, too, would you vote for a 13-9 slugfest? not that i would ever claim my voting model to be ideal, but it does everything i think it should. i score the game on an absolute scale, where if a guy has the same exact stats in two different games, he's going to ge the same absolute score. i score pitchers on their offense the same as if they were a regular batter, as those at bats count just as much as everybody else's. i score pitching and hitting independently, as well as fielding. and i attempt to consider some facets of game situation - a 1 run save scores less than a 3-run save, and credit is given to go-ahead runs and rbi. i attempt to factor in defense as well. and then i scale everything down to 10 points, unless there wasn't enough good play to total 10 points. there are further nuances, of course, and there's certainly things i probably do wrong, or can improve upon to develop schaefer voting perfection, but i rarely run a game and am unhappy with the result. its unweildy to change, of course, and i have minimal traceability into the past, and certainly cannot process a vote without my laptop, but it works, and works fairly well.

  16. preliminary wpa analysis indicates that david wright gobbled up a decent chunk of win probability. i'm always a loose cannon though. of course, this season, unlike others, i actually did add in a booster for a no-hitter. we'll see how it works come monday i suppose.
  17. donuts for everyone
  18. that really was a great takedown on the guy who ran onto the field.
  19. and of course, now that the game is over, teh storms are closing in, and i'm wholly isolated from any of the postgame stuff on the tube.
  20. you're gonna get 50 pages of zombie george steinbrenner eating joe girardi. just you wait.

  22. yeah, so i'm just gonna hide my little skate key for a few days... i don't want my little tin can to get stomped on.
  23. don't mess with the johan
  24. the trees and thunderstorms were definitely conspiring to keep me from watching this game. the 2nd out of the inning, the sat signal dropped out with the pitch and all i heard was the crack of the bat. it came back to let me see nieuwenhuis racing to field hte ball. the final out, it dropped out on the windup. nothing. then crowd noise. then arms raised. then there was a lot of silent hopping up and down in my basement. i was right below minimm's bedroom, and he'd just gotten to sleep. he'd done his part today, wearing a mets shirt to day care.
  25. I really my satellite tv weren't being obscured by a one two punch of overgrown trees and massive thunderstorms. Thankfully the baseball app on my iPhone had been featuring live look-ins.
