Jeez, I'd like to know exactly what the problem is so I can decide how to spend Uncle Steve's money. Of course, if this leads to a restructuring for a shorter term I'm OK with that. I'm not sure what my plans will be in 2034 anyway.
Escobar could be your primary DH at this point. Baty plays left in AAA, Vientos who knows. One of the reasons for buying FA's is that you allow the farm to develop, but they've set up the left side of the infield for a decade at this point (barring injury). Wonder if there's an opt-out in this deal somewhere?
I wake up this morning and see this, and I still can't believe it. 1) What was in that medical report that scared the Giants off, and, 2) well, holy shit!
They did break in a guy to work with Wayne on the games Howie didn't do last year (his name escapes me), but if Howie's working a reduced schedule in 2023 they're gonna need another voice in the booth.
I always thought those border ads looked chintzy, like something you'd see in a minor league stadium. But yeah, now you're going to see giant Bud Light or Toyota ads between batters.
Feels like a stretch is right. Seems more like the typical Boras 'mystery dark horse team' that he floats with the writers to get his paydays up. Correa would have play third with the Mets. Some team will severely overpay him to be a shortstop.
I think the pitch clock is going to affect him big-time. I'd be more broken up about him leaving if they hadn't already lined up replacements. His red-assness was annoying, as were those incessant SNY commercials where he swore he was going to Grind Us Down.
Well, Uncle Steve's spending binge is allowing the Mets to hang on to their prospects rather than trade them. The farm was a little threadbare and it'll take a few years to recover. That's where the ability to buy what you need comes in handy. I agree it's not sustainable indefinitely but it doesn't have to be, if they do things right.
Me likey. He's got nasty stuff. It's like Steve Cohen is trying to make up for decades of Fred Wilpon in one off-season. They'll have to pace him a bit as Japanese pitchers aren't worked as frequently as they are here. But this is a good signing. Rotation is now complete- Scherzer/Verlander/Senga/Quintana/Carrasco. I'll go to war with that bunch, with Peterson and Megill on call if needed. Another bullpen arm would be nice, but I'm quibbling.

I hope his new bed is comfortable cause he just kicked the sexy green monster out of it. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast-park-factorshttps://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast-park-factors Yeah, it'll be interesting to see his numbers at Petco. No more banging doubles off that big wall. Puzzling move by the Padres, but it's their money. They'll be a beast this year.
