  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'll probably see it in the theaters and fairly soon, but I feel the way Namor does; it's the first Marvel movie (from Marvel Studios, anyway) that I have little enthusiasm for. I waited for cable to see the rebooted Amazing Spider-Man, and will probably do the same for its sequel. I saw it last night, and it was the best Marvel movie since Avengers. As my daughter put it, it's the intergalactic comedy you didn't know you needed.
  3. Marvel CCO Joe Quesada (with Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Pratt) at last night's Guardians Of the Galaxy screening:
  4. Prentice Redman still plays for the Bridgeport Bluefish. Sunday night, the Bluefish played the Stratford Brakettes in a charity softball game at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. Prentice's expression says it all regarding the difficulty in hitting a fast-pitch softball.

  6. Was supposed to shoot a charity softball game between the Stratford Brakettes and the Bridgeport Bluefish at Harbor Yard. The heavens opened up in the bottom of the first, causing the game to be rescheduled this coming Sunday night. Of course, hi-jinks ensued.... Splash! by dgwphotography, on Flickr
  7. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yes the Eric Davis fight is the one in which Marty Noble described Wally Backman "motherfucked George Foster for an hour." ...Wally would say anything. Remember the fight with Eric Davis in 86? We came in to the clubhouse afterward and Wally was there and said, Come here, write this down. And he motherfucked George Foster for an hour! That motherfucker wouldnt fight. Danny Heep was out there fighting in his underwear, and George is on the bench. Fuck him. Write it! And say I said it!' And I did. http://www.mbtn.net/?p=855 Loved rereading this just now(psst.. the links to part one and two are broken...)

  9. I hoped they would give him a gift basket on the way out the door....
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I find myself hoping he gets less than the $14.1 million (or whatever the number was) that he rejected. Anything that makes Boras look bad makes me smile.
  11. I'm just tired of his act. He had a great half-season, and baseball history is littered with hundreds of players who can claim the same. Until he can show that he can sustain that greatness over an extended period of time, he should just STFU and show a little more humility and class.
  12. Vic Sage wrote: when you're fat, old, and have a multi-million $ contract with the Mets bad backs happen. Mets-reality fixed ;-)
  13. That has to be one of the greatest practical jokes ever
  14. Nymr83 wrote: The tie-in with Marvels Agents of Shield was pretty good too, they really turned the show upside down and im curious to see where it goes. The show was just spinning its wheels until this turn. The tie-in has made the show much better.
  15. Cap returns, this time in present day, fighting against the Winter soldier, and some within SHIELD. I give it a 5 out of ten. Good story, but lousy cinematography

Shea's version of Camelot. So, a pretty, inspiring sham? Wasn't thinking about the sham portion. Pretty and inspiring fit, though.

  18. Thank you for sharing that - that was so wonderful, a bunch of dust flew into my eyes...
  19. Gwreck wrote: You don't leave extra-inning games early. Has always bothered me. Opening Day, 1985. Why? I took pity on my then-girlfriend, soon-to-be-fiance, now-wife... We were driving over the Whitestone when Carter's homer landed in the bullpen. She now expects to go the distance
