  1. =kcmets post_id=58768 time=1616853686 user_id=53] So I thought Recker did a good enough job in the booth. The 'back when I was playing' stuff would get old really quick but as an occasional sub he did just fine.
  2. Anthony Recker tidbit: he finished his ML career in2017 with 7 ABs for the Braves. Had he notched 2 hits in those 7 trips he would have had a .201 BA for his career. But he went 1-for-7 and wound up at .199 instead.
  3. Hey, we're getting some red-hot Anthony Recker action from behind the mic! Teaming with Wayne Randazzo
  4. One week from today!
  5. A story about Brown, possibly true and if not it should be, was that he, later to be a cardiologist after his playing days, was reading a medical text on the team bus one day. Seated next to him was Yogi reading a comic book. As it happened they both closed their books at the same time prompting Yogi to ask, "So how did yours turn out?"
  6. Mike Cameron, 17th slot
  7. =nymr83 post_id=58566 time=1616628375 user_id=54] Nido is out of options, so if Maxwell didn't see this coming he isn't nearly as 'smart' as those above claimed.
  8. I thought Maxwell might make it because he's smart. Drury, on the other hand, is a blockhead.
  9. I was gonna say, LHPs typically throw somewhere between 1/4 to 1/3 of ML innings.
  10. Beltran once: 2006 = 33 vs RHP / 8 vs LHP HoJo did so twice: 1989 = 29/7, 1991 24/14
  11. A ridiculous 35 of Hundley's 41 1996 HRs were hit off RHPs, and in '97 it was 27 of 30, so, yeah, on both accounts. I remembered his splits as being lopsided, but not to that degree.
  12. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=58466 time=1616591619 user_id=68] Ike Davis (quiz)
  13. Michael Conforto (quiz)
  14. =MFS62 post_id=58421 time=1616520041 user_id=60] Not as good at many infield positions to make us forget about Fonzie,
  15. It's hard to suss out why he's never matched what he was able to do early on. That winter there were a number of prospect guys -- not Rah-Rah NYM fan boyz but independent, national ones -- who were real high on him while insisting he was better than a beginner's luck fluke. But at this point that initial success is now the outlier.
  16. I liked how long Tug hung around the top three or four.
  17. Ronald Acuna goes by Jr. even though his pop never advanced beyond a low-level minor leaguer in the Mets system. It's become fashionable among a handful of NFL'ers with a namesake son to wear Sr. on the back of their jersey. Meanwhile ... where did that runner on 1st think he was headed in such a hurry?!?
  18. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=58296 time=1616405778 user_id=68] So if the drug dealers placed the drugs in the car without Corrales's knowledge, what did the dealers think was ultimately gonna happem being that Corrales was transporting the drugs unwittingly? How was Corrales supposed to complete the drug deal? I suppose that the dealers would eventually commandeer Corrales's car stateside and just take the drugs, right? Was that the story?
  19. Edgy MD wrote: I'm guessing that playing in Mexico in the winter season, and having a legit visa to come to the US in the spring, somebody made a mule of him. That was the player's excuse/explanation -- "Yeah it's my bag but I had no idea what was in it" -- which, while it's one not likely to fly with law enforcement, might actually be somewhat accurate considering he voluntarily allowed the police to search his car after being pulled over for speeding nowhere near a border crossing (Colorado).
  20. Nothing like a sloppy 1.07 WHIP
  21. Edgy MD wrote: =TransMonk post_id=58136 time=1616156454 user_id=71]deGrom, Stroman...pray for postponement. That doesn't even rhyme!
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Governor Cuomo just stated that Citi Field and YSIII can open at 20% capacity for opening day. [Marlins]Why so many?[/Marlins]
  23. Edgy MD wrote: He looked a lot better in the outfield than Reyes did. Maybe. NYP: Former Mets shortstop Amed Rosario's first game in center field resembled a bloopers scene from the baseball comedy “Major League.” He committed three errors in three innings during Cleveland's 17-8 loss Thursday to the Los Angeles Angels. Rosario managed two singles in Thursday's game, but he dropped two balls in center field and also made an errant throw to second base, leading to eight unearned runs with AL Cy Young winner Shane Bieber on the mound.
  24. I predict he'll be tall and lean and lefty. How, or even if, he'll pitch, I have no freaking clue.
