  1. Wheeler winds up going 7 (on a low pitch count) and allows only a 2nd inning single to Td'A. He also had two hits and knocked in two. Phils win 4-0 btw, Game Time =2:30 Braves have scored two runs in two games, both coming on a PH 2R HR by ... Pablo Sandoval! As fat as ever but the Panda can still turn on a fastball.
  2. Oriole LHP John Means, whom I am totally unfamiliar with, (although was 2nd in AL ROY in 2019) is one- hitting the Boston thru 7 in their (rain) delayed season opener. Single to the first Sox hitter of the game and just one walk since. 2-0 Baltimore heading into the 8th
  3. =bmfc1 post_id=59266 time=1617381596 user_id=73] Fuck the fucking Nationals, their fucking infected bodies, their fucking moronic fans, the fucking bloated AA stadium they play in, their fucking inept broadcasters. Fuck 'em all.
  4. Nor am I. Last I read was that the Mets are being told they should be "prepared to play" on Saturday (4:00) and that today was canceled due to an "abundance of caution". In the meantime, our non opening day wasn't a total loss as we gained a half-game on both the Braves and Marlins (1-0 losers to TBR) and deGrom didn't have to pitch in 35-40 degree weather. OK, that's all I got. Oh, and the Yanx lost.
  5. Phils walk-off Braves in the 10th. Braves in top 10 failed to score when an 8-2 FO/DP ended the inning.
  6. Cody Bellinger managed just one RBI despite hitting the ball over the fence with a runner on. Seems that Justin Turner thought the ball had been caught so he sprinted back to 1st causing he and Bellinger to pass each other. So Bellinger is called out and loses credit for the HR while Turner is allowed to score. 2-1 Rox in the 4th

Usually the way they roll is that you can buy a season's worth of one (out of town) team's games (~ $90) or the entire slate of games for about twice that. Of course you can't get your home team that way -- and the definition of "home" team is subject to various conditions -- nor can you get games involving your team if they're playing the team(s) that are considered home in your particular area. And then, in addition to the free weeks to open the first and second halves of the season, there is usually one game each day which is free to all.
  8. Yankees lose. THAAAAA Yankees LOSE!!!! Jays score a lone run via the runner-on-2nd rule in the 10th. Yanx fail to answer.
  9. Is it Free, or temporarily free? MLB.TV has traditionally offered their whole slate of games to all during opening week and then again during the first week after the ASG.
  10. =nymr83 post_id=59200 time=1617300836 user_id=54] Friends of mine - mostly Yankees fans - are bashing the deal as one we will regret.
  11. Game will NOT be played on Friday, and at this point I guess Saturday and Sunday are up in the air.
  12. =Ceetar post_id=59099 time=1617233333 user_id=102] hope that scares players into getting vaccinated *cough cough* Mookie Betts.
  13. And if it turns out to be Scherzer, we'll know soon enough.

First pitch forecast: 42, clear, 17mph NW wind, dropping to mid-30s by 10PM Ugh! Games #2 & 3 on Saturday and Sunday look considerably better: clear, upper 50s & upper 60s Whoda thunk that playing day games in early April in the northeast/mid-atlantic would make such a difference?
  15. I think the NLEast is strong in that there are no weak teams*. Unlike, say, the West where it looks like two monster teams plus three also-rans, and certainty stronger than the Central. * the Marlins made the playoffs last year. Sure it was an odd season but they still did so and have promising young pitching.

  17. Edgy MD wrote: I never got the Wrigley field basket. Is it for keeping fans from falling onto the field? More like to keep in-play balls from being interfered with IIRC. And, yeah, if it also keeps a few drunks from flopping onto the warning track then it's doing double duty.
  18. If only we could have an icon made of that matchup!
  19. He's certainly coming off a bad year and is only getting the OD nod due an injury to Zac Gallen. MLB.com lists him as the 25th best of the 30 OD starters. They have JdG at #2, btw, behind Shane Bieber
  20. Only Pittsburgh and Colorado are uncommitted (at least publicly) as to their OD starter We know all about the lone 7 PM game, but here's how the rest of the slate plays out on Thusday and who's the honored man in each. (Home team listed second in each case) 1:05 NYY Gerritt Cole TOR Hyun-Jin Ryu 1:10 CLE Shane Bieber DET Matthew Boyd 2:10 BAL John Means BOS Nathan Eovaldi 2:10 MIN Kenta Maeda MIL Brandon Woodruff 2:20 PIT ?? 22. High of 46 predicted for DC on Thursday ... and I'm guessing that that high won't be peaking at the 7PM game first pitch. Thanks ESPN!!
  23. I predict someone on air will call him Joey Chestnut before the season is out.
  24. Luke Voit's kneed for knee surgery pushes back his start to the season and means Jay Bruce will be the starting 1st baseman in the Bronx
  25. I predict the Atlanta organist will be a version of: Loup, There It Is when he enters a game.
