Other than the Giant and the Opera, there's nothing else to do. It's such a beautiful little town... even if baseball wasn't invented there, it should have been. Count the number of stoplights in town. If you're not within walking distance of the Hall, park near Doubleday Field. And make sure that you go into Doubleday Field and looked around. While I like Orlando Hudson more than Castillo (I like Jennifer Hudson more than Castillo), I wonder why Torre benched him in all 8 playoff games in favor of Belliard.

There may have been worse seasons but this one stings and burns and since it just happened, it gets my vote. That doesn't mean that the others weren't worse, but that they didn't just end. The fact that the Mets contributed to the MFYs #9 moment of the season, according to [u:34ri7y2f]New York[/u:34ri7y2f] magazine, the fact that we ended up having to root for our divisional rival to WIN the WS, the fact that they still lost to our most hated team (again, subjective--hate is in the eyes of the beholder) in the WS, and fact that the season was so bad that we don't look ahead with hope or any faith in the team's management, makes it King Worst to me.

Teahan's a good player who can play IF and OF. Good pick-up for the White Sox.

And then in the bottom of the 9th, Jeter comes up with the bases loaded, none out, and he hits into a triple play.

Not just win, but get Pettitte out early so we don't have see that close-up of him looking over his glove. Overrated Director Bill Webb uses that shot so much that it has become a cliche.

In addition to the atmosphere and Pedro can handle NY, it doesn't show a lot of confidence in Hamels, does it? He's been stinking lately and the manager must think that he can pitch better at home (and at night since he bitched about pitching during the day during the first round of the playoffs).

Now that there's an opening at ESPN, I think that Jerry Manuel would be a great TV analyst. He loves talking to the press, he's frank in his opinions, and you never know what he's going to say. In fact, I think he'd be so good that he should resign as manager of the Mets to work at ESPN. The Mets will have to sacrifice (something Jerry knows all about), but it would be for the good of the game.

Good post. The Mets season ended three weeks ago and the MFYs have played 9 more games than the Mets. Teams plays 162 games in 181 days; last year, I think the Phillies played 13 playoff games over 27 days. The point about being "top heavy" is important. Not that I like to quote Whitey Herzog, but he once said that there should not be any off days in the playoffs because you get to the playoffs with 5 starters and then you only have to use four. With this schedule, you only have to use three. Sadly, the schedule was clearly made by FOX for it's own interests (no games on nights with fewer viewers) and not by MLB.
