http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?topic_id=7741168&c_id=nym MLB is doing a "play of the year" poll for each team. The Murphy flip is winning. I voted for the Omir homerun. Which did you vote for?
Not just any "retired hockey player", that's Rod Gilbert! When Jason, Omar, and Jeff Wilpon were posing, the guy giving directions told them to look "right field" "dead center" "first base."
I vote for none of them. If Keith, Gil and Marvin Miller aren't in, then no one else should get in. Childish? Of course but I don't think that any of the nominees are more deserving than those three
Excellent song. Big hit in 1977 by Allan O'Day:
Oh, Angel Pagan. I hope that he's used as a throw-in as part of a deal for a SP. He has positives but his cement head outweighs them.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2009/12/30/2009-12-30_omar_gets_bat_but_strikes_out_on_pitchers.html Harper's at it again. I bet he's not even working. He wrote a generic column in case the Mets signed a FA and told the editor to fill in the blanks: "if they sign a hitter, then I'll rip them for not getting a pitcher and if they sign a pitcher, then I'll rip them for not getting a hitter."
I wholeheartedly approve. Excellent move. His bat makes the lineup potent and protects Carlos (we only have one now) and David. Between Bay and Molina, the Mets have signed two players from my championship fantasy team so Omar is obviously signing players that know how to win.
We can usually anticipate some new Mets books every spring but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that there won't be any. If not, what books [u:2gcs8kei]won't[/u:2gcs8kei] we be seeing? "OOPS! The Luis Castillo Story."
2006 for me. That moment lingers more than any other moment. It also set up management's philosophy of thinking that the team could be fixed, one hole at a time instead of improving the team as a whole (we need starters, we need relievers). Isn't this the most fun discussion ever? Happy Holidays!!!
Good information on Igarashi, including his blood type: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http://baseball.yahoo.co.jp/npb/player%3Ft%3Ddp%26id%3D11606
http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=7560 First week of the season, Reed with a PH single in the top of the 9th to tie the game (which the Mets lost in the bottom of the 9th).
I apologize if this doesn't deserve it's own thread... According to numerous tweets, including a confirmation from the team, the Mets have made offers to Jason Bay and Bengie Molina.
StevePopper: The Carlos Monasterios era is over in NY - #Mets trade Rule 5 pick to Dodgers for cash considerations. Maybe that ups the offer for Lackey
The Mets signed Mike Hessman to a minor league deal; 31 years old, 1B-3B: http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/H/Mike-Hessman.shtml http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Hessman I thought he was the guy who played Dr. Johnny Fever in "WKRP."
