John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: all you don Lagreca boyfriends oughhta be listening to what an ignorant cocksucking retard he is about this lineup switch. You're absolutely correct. I was listening and wanted LaGreca to stand-up to Kay and possibly defend the Mets but he was slurping up what Kay was putting out.

I've criticized Pagan for his lack of baseball savvy but he was the smartest player on the field during the Braves infield fly rule screw-up.

Please change the title of this thread. The Mets have a Rodriguez and he's not a douchebag.

Kevin Burkhardt identified Kendall as Ike's mother which I'm sure upset Millie, Ron's 1st wife and Ike's mom. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100420&content_id=9440256&notebook_id=9447500&vkey=notebook_nym&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym

Not to get too lawyerly, but getting their "blessings" is the same as getting their approval. If, as suggested, it could mean anything, then it was a poor choice of words on his part (he could have said "Minaya waited to announce the move until he informed ownership"). I hope it was nothing more than an FYI but Sherman indicated otherwise.

Edgy DC wrote: I have no problem with his keeping the ownership abreast of big decisions, nor with Ike Davis having taken batting practice at 11 AM. "Keeping the ownership abreast" is different than "approval" which was what Sherman stated. Either way, it could have and should have been done within a short time frame and not taken from 5 PM Sunday until noon on Monday. Piniero said that the Mets didn't reply to him quick enough and others made similar complaints about the Mets actions this past winter. It comes across that the Mets have too many layers and are too bureaucratic.

This is the passage that bothers me: "However, Mets general manager Omar Minaya told me he did not make his series of calls to get ownership's blessings, and to explain the plan to Jerry Manuel and others in the organization until yesterday morning." 1) This move was telegraphed late afternoon on Sunday when Jacobs was DFA'd rather than optioned to the minors, thus opening a spot on the 40-man roster. If blessings needed to be secured, and it needed to be explained to the manager, then one would think that it would have happened before the Jacobs maneuver was made. If the approval was not granted, then they could have simply sent down Jacobs. 2) Ownership has to approve it? Are you kidding? Maybe if it's Jerry Jones, owner/GM but not when you have an independent GM. This isn't a trade that impacts payroll, it's a baseball decision.

Being more enthused about Omar than Jerry is like having to decide which of Hefner's wives is the smartest.

Outstanding: "And just to clear up one ugly rumor before we start on the Chicago roster, theres no truth to the one that says if we get Ike into the lineup tonight that the Cubs are therefore required to add someone named Adlai to theirs, or even bring back Shawn Estes or Otis Nixon."
