1. Angel Pagan, cf 2. Luis Castillo, 2b 3. David Wright, 3b 4. Mike Jacobs, 1b 5. Jason Bay, lf 6. Jeff Francoeur, rf 7. Russ Adams, ss 8. Omir Santos, c 9. Nelson Figueroa, rhp Josh Johnson starts for Florida and he will be starting on OD. It might have made sense to use Barajas as he will probably be starting on Monday so he could get a look at Johnson.

Murphy has a sprained right knee and is day-to-day. This is a shame as he just starting hitting. Does this mean that Ike will return or they will go with either Jacobs or Carter?
-
Maybe this year's SI pick will be just as wrong as last year's.
-
SI has the Mets at 79-83 and 4th place. Washington Post says 4th. MLB.com says last place. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100326&content_id=8955272&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

JCL: does that mean you want to revise your 91-71 prediction?

Perez gives up another hr in the 2d.
-
-
I have no idea what your 2d sentence means. As for the first, my point was that no Met, not even Castillo, should be booed because they are wearing the Mets uni and if you feel the need to boo, boo that jerk Hanley.
-
Two homers against Perez in the first (plus 2 doubles). Has he done anything this spring to make you think he deserves to start the year in the majors?
-
The #1 target for booing should be Hanley Ramirez. After that, JCL is right: don't boo on Opening Day. I would never boo a Met--it used piss me off when fans booed Doug Sisk since he's wearing a Met uniform, you want him to succeed.

[u:2kxs1hgv]Just the Mets:[/u:2kxs1hgv] 1. Where they will finish in the NL East 2. What the final record will be 3. If you predict a wild card spot, say so 4. If you predict a playoff appearance, how far will they go?

I'm sitting here, thinking of Castillo reaching for a grounder with one hand earlier in the game, failing to get to a ground ball 2 feet to his left, hitting the ball on the ground his first three times up, and cursing out Omar for keeping him on the roster... and then he hits a bomb. I hope that's not it for the year.

That's another fine article by Waldstein. Will K-Rod let the minor leaguers in his new ride? This is from this morning: http://twitpic.com/1b18ax

Odd that they wouldn't let him say goodbye but they still use his picture on the Daily News twitter feed for Mets news.

Figueroa's spring ERA is 0.00. The way the staff is constructed, and from the pitching we've seen this spring, he shouldn't be the 5th starter... he should be the #2. I don't have any more confidence in Pelfrey or Maine than I do in Figueroa. And Perez is still a nightmare--yesterday was like reliving a bad dream, looking up and seeing runners on base all the time. This shouldn't have happened: Piniero and Marquis should have been in the rotation but our GM stood pat. Right now, the rotation is Santana and a bunch of 4's and 5's and from that bunch, Figueroa deserves to be in the rotation. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/stats/sortable_player_stats.jsp?statType=2&statType=Overview&teamPosCode=all&timeFrame=1&c_id=nym§ion2=null&sitSplit=&venueID=&Submit=Submit&subScope=pos&baseballScope=NYN&timeSubFrame=23&&sortByStat=ERA

Mets win, Francoeur with a 2 run homer, Wagner gets the loss, Green gets the save but gives up 2 in the 9th.

One of the practice fields was changed to match CF's dimensions, including the fence heights, but, as stated, Tradition Field has Shea's dimensions.

Reyes is back faster than we thought: the new health care law is working already!
