  1. You gotta love this: many of the Mets were out before 2 for BP: http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2010/04/mets_out_for_very_early_battin.html
  2. When Bacsik game up the historic home run to Bonds, some thought that he did it on purpose: http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/the_sporting_blog/entry/view/53701/mike_bacsik_says_he_didnt_groove_bonds_756th_home_run_ball
  3. Tonight--Buffalo wins 4-0. Dickey gave up a lead-off single and then retired the next 27 batters in a row. 1 hit, 0 walks. 90 pitches--68 strikes, 22 balls. That's 90 pitches over 9 innings, not 5. Time of the game: 1:45. http://buffalo.bisons.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=t422&t=g_log&gid=2010_04_29_dubaaa_bufaaa_1
  4. Damn good. And the C. Manuel equivalent was genius.
  5. It makes me embarrassed to be a SI subscriber. I feel the same way I did when my ESPN the Magazine arrived with Kimbo Slice on the cover.
  6. Since the ASG "counts", as it determines home field advantage for the WS, then the best players should play and there should be no restrictions on who plays. Specifically, 1) the game should be moved to Wednesday. The randomness of who pitches on Sunday should not determine who pitches in a game of such import; and, 2) each team should not automatically be represented. It's not fair to fans of, say, the Pirates, but the game is allegedly important so the teams should be made up of the best players, regardless of uniform. This would also lessen an advantage that the AL enjoys--with 2 fewer teams, it can have 2 more of the best players.
  7. The Mets return to FOX's GOW this Saturday. If you're wondering whether you will get the game in your area, click on the link and then on the map. (This is from the506.com, the same place that does the NFL distribution maps.) http://www.the506.com/sports/MLB10/may-01.html Someone in their forum broke it down by percentages: NYM-Phi 69.9 Hou-Atl 19.5 Tex-Sea 10.6
  8. Just wanted to say that while I generally do not like punny thread titles, this one made me laugh.
  9. When the 10 game homestand began, I said that I would like 6 and 4 but 7 and 3 would be great. No... this is great. YIPPEE!
  10. Ashie62 is EN FUEGO!... and so are the Mets.
  11. The last two games, I noticed the trainers happily joining in the coaches post-game slaps. Perhaps they're happy that no one got hurt.
  12. 85 pitches for Maine. I guess one more and then more work for the bullpen. (At least it's a day off tomorrow.) MGIM--great minds think alike.
  13. There's never been a major leaguer whose [u:2f5edjzc]last [/u:2f5edjzc]name began with X. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/
  14. The Dodgers GM isn't happy with Matt Kemp: http://www.vinscullyismyhomeboy.com/2010/04/ned-colletti-slams-matt-kemp.html
  15. There was a conversation last night about cold weather during the WS. Ron asked Keith "do you remember how cold it was?" and Keith said yes and started talking about Game 2... of the '82 Series.
  16. Keith wearing his WS ring--I hope it's from '86.
  17. METS: Angel Pagan, CF Alex Cora, 2B Jose Reyes, SS Jason Bay, CF David Wright, 3B Ike Davis, 1B Jeff Francoeur, RF Rod Barajas, C John Maine, RHP Dodgers: Martin c Kemp cf Ethier rf Loney 1b Blake 3b Belliard 2b Paul lf Carroll ss John Ely, RHP http://twitpic.com/1j3xtk
  18. I want to post the Mets lineup for today but Ashie is EN FUEGO when starting the IGT so I'm waiting for him.
  19. I apologize if this has been posted already, but I looked up Chip Hale's Wikipedia article and found this: Chip Hale is also associated with probably one of the most memorable bloopers in baseball history when on May 27, 1991, while playing for the AAA-level Portland Beavers, he hit a deep fly ball to right where outfielder Rodney McCray attempted to catch the ball and ran through the wall.
  20. That's one. Be greedy and take two.
