    Nick Plummer and Adonis Medina--Welcome to the Derby! Plummer's Sunday Night HR was one of my favorite moments of the season. We went from "Bummer" to Plummer in consecutive covers. (There could be a special category for Pete covers where he is pissed, angry, anguished, or hurt.)

    The Mets have claimed left-handed RP Tayler Saucedo on waivers from the Blue Jays. He's a LHP from Hawaii and the Mets track record on that combination is excellent.     "Fall In!" is an excellent cover not only because it recognizes the fans through The 7 Line but because it uses a military expression above the banner with the word "Army".

    I'm not a fan of covers with new Mets wearing old uniforms (the Derby winner should have a Mets jersey) and I don't like photo-shopped Mets unis but all of those are unavoidable here.

    Not who you think will win but who do you WANT to win? You gotta pick, you can't say "F 'em both". Astros: CON: They cheated in 2017 et al. Houston is in Texas. Ted Cruz is a fan. PRO: They beat the Yankees. They aren't the Phillies. They have one ex-Met, even if you've forgotten about Rafael Montero. Dusty Baker has never won a World Series (see the next post) Phillies: CON: We hate them. They hate us more. Do we really want to hear "the Mets play the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies"? (Hearing "the Mets play the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies" will be tough enough.) PRO: They aren't the Astros. They beat Atlanta. NL East solidarity! "Abbott Elementary" is a good show. Bryce Harper winning a Series will piss off Nationals fans. They have two ex-Mets, Zack Wheeler and Noah Syndergaard. Make it three: I forgot about Brad Hand. The 6th seed in the NL playoffs, the last team to make it into the playoffs, shouldn't win the World Series.

    And that does it for the Yankees season. It must suck for them to get swept. Too bad, so sad.

    The Phillies were 14-17 in September/October but it didn't mean a thing because they made it.
