  1. I thought that they couldn't send him down without "exposing him to waivers" which was why he stayed and Matt dD departed.
  2. What the opposite of a baseball savant? It's Daniel Murphy.
  3. Get Campbell on the next plane from Sacramento.
  4. Put Orosco and Sisk in the OF and move them back and forth depending on who the hitter is.
  5. Lots of Mayberry in LF if Cuddyer is hurt. Nowhere else to play Mayberry as Duda crushes lefties.
  6. Here's a way to drive some viewers away from tonight's Sunday Night telecast: Karl Ravech said that the announcers would discuss the "Yankees Mount Rushmore."
  7. Obviously, being at today's game was a lot more fun than last night's game. Cold, of course but Harvey's heat kept us warm. Lots of Mets fans. One of the highlights was us serenading a departing Strasberg with "Harvey's Better!" A really good day to be at the game and, of course, a good day to be a Mets fan.
  8. d'Kong76 wrote: Fast game... 2:21 games are not too common these days. I thought when I turned it on a little after 8 and saw it was delayed that it was going to be a long night. It moved fast but it didn't feel that way sitting in the cold, especially with the game delayed by an hour for an anticipated rainstorm that never came. The new clock attached to the scoreboard giving the players 2:25 to get ready between innings seemed to get the batter into the batter's box faster. I noticed once or twice that the batter would be swinging near the dugout, look up, and then quickly move to the plate. We were handed a Nationals "rally towel" upon entry. I kept it to wipe the seats except it didn't absorb water (so it allegedly facilitates rallies but doesn't perform towel-like functions). Everyone had the same experience and threw them to the ground in disgust.
  9. TMF is right. This is typical Mets--a chance for self-promotion and good-will but they are too damn cheap to send a crew to an out-of-town stadium. The players should have been sent home to "see" their wives and girlfriends and pack instead of schlepping to Texas. Oh wait: the Wilpons likely got a piece of the gate from the Rangers so it makes it all worthwhile.
  10. Part 1: YES or NO 1) Curtis Granderson leads the club in HRs? (any ties count as a win for the YES answers) - YES 2) Jenrry Mejia leads in saves? (same deal if there's a tie) - YES Will be on the team's ML roster (or DL) the entire season? 3) Dillon Gee - YES 4) Bartolo Colon - YES 5) Travis d'Arnaud - YES 6) Anthony Recker - YES 7) Daniel Murphy - YES 8) Ruben Tejada - NO 9) Jonathon Niese - YES 10) Terry Collins (has to be field manager for a YES to count - if demoted but stays in the org with a "special assistant" title or other such nonsense it doesn't count) - YES Part 2: OVER/UNDER 11) Lucas Duda -- 29.5 HRs - UNDER 12) Michael Cuddyer -- 119.5 Starts - OVER 13) Jenrry Mejia -- 19.5 Saves - OVER 14) Wilmer Flores -- 449.5 PAs - OVER 15) Bartolo Colon -- 17.5 Starts - OVER 16) David Wright -- 21.5 HRs (22 or more would surpass Straw's club record) - OVER 17) Kirk Nieuwenhuis -- 199.5 PAs - UNDER 18) Noah Syndergaard -- 19.5 ML Starts - UNDER 19) Steven Matz -- 9.5 ML Starts - UNDER 20) Brandon Nimmo - 49.5 ML PAs - UNDER EITHER/OR - simply name one player or the other in each comparison 21) More PAs w/2015 NYM: Murphy or Herrera? - MURPHY 22) More PAs: Nieuwenhuis or Mayberry? - MAYBERRY 23) More PAs: d'Arnaud or Plawecki? - d'ARNAUD 24) More Saves: Parnell or Familia?- FAMILIA 25) More IPs: Gilmartin or Leathersich? - GILMARTIN
  11. I will be at Games 2 and 3 in Washington. I can think of one thing I can do with the giveaway "Rally Towel" on Wednesday but it might hurt my rear end.
  12. In the documentary "Going Clear" (on HBO), John Travolta is wearing a classic Mets jacket.
  13. 81-81, 3d place. No playoffs.
  14. Just the Mets, just the Mets. Step right up and predict the Mets: 1--Mets record for 2015 2--Where the Mets will finish in the NL East 3--Whether the Mets will make the playoffs and if so, how far they will go. To encourage more participation, I'm posting this a week earlier than last year. As always, don't be a J.J. Putz and write "162-0."
  15. Cuddyer went in the 5th round (insane). Lagares wasn't picked. I took Granderson in round 19 (of 22).
  16. If Murphy is banged up, it's in a natural and wholesome manner and not because of some lifestyle "choice" that he finds offensive.
  17. It's the end of a mixed league, 5 X 5, fantasy draft and you want to pick a Mets outfielder. We're not discussing whether you [u:14o19onr]should[/u:14o19onr] pick a player from your favorite team, just assume that you do. You don't need help in any one category over another. Which Mets OF'er do you pick?
  18. Did Britney have to tell Travis to get closer to the plate?
  19. I love the Heritage set. If anyone has a second Mets' set that they'd like to sell, let me know. I'd rather deal with you than eBay.
  20. For us out-of-towners, it's live on MLB Network. New SNY graphics.
  21. Lefty Specialist wrote: My question would be....what would happen if Daniel Murphy were trapped in an elevator with Richard Simmons? Murphy would overthrow Simmons.
  22. So much for the MFYs retiring the numbers of all-time greats: http://nypost.com/2015/02/15/andy-pettitte-will-have-no-46-retired-join-monument-park-in-august/
  23. I don't know why they haven't announced it yet, given that it is likely just all of the home games. YES will televise the two games between the Mets and MFYs. The Nationals will televise the March 26 game in Viera.
  24. Mr. Met shows up around 3. Do it then. G-Fafif, Mr. Met and the Honoree on stage together.
  25. The whole crowd should have been there for Ed Charles and G-Fafif. Perhaps have no sessions when Mr. Met arrives so everyone can see him and sing "Take Me Out To The Game" together and then the "Gil Hodges Spirit Award" can be bestowed in front of all of the attendees.
