  1. July 26, 2013, a Friday, the first game of a day/night DH at Washington. Jenry Mejia starts and pitches 7 shutout innings (7 K's), Murphy hits two HR's. To the point of this thread: I was sitting about 25 rows behind the Mets dugout. There were 4 people closer to the dugout wearing "Recker" shirts. They had to be specially made and with the Mets winning, I approached them and one says: "father, brother, sister, cousin." When Recker scores, after hitting an RBI double off the wall, all of them take pictures. His father walks up the aisle later, remembers me and stops to say hello.
  2. Theoretically, the Mets could leave the 3d starter in Florida until six days into the season as the Opening Day starter (Sunday) can also start the home opener (Friday).
  3. How are the schools in Cooperstown, NY? I'm asking for Mike Hampton.
  4. HA! HA! HA! https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2015/11/03/after-bud-black-negotiations-leave-the-nationals-shifting-to-dusty-baker-the-lerner-family-has-a-fiasco-on-its-hands/
  5. The AFL All-Star Game is on MLBN this Saturday at 8. You can see Dominick Smith. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/156166350/afl-fall-stars-game-rosters-announced?topicid=153494546 [u:d37g0f0g] The AFL on MLBN (the Mets players are on Salt River):[/u:d37g0f0g] Friday, November 6, 2:30 PM: Peoria Javelinas at Surprise Saguaros (at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, AZ) Saturday, November 7, 8:00 PM: Fall Stars Game from Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, AZ Wednesday, November 11, 9:00 PM: Peoria Javelinas at Salt River Rafters Saturday, November 14, 8:00 PM (Military Appreciation Day): Surprise Saguaros at Salt River Rafters Saturday, November 21, 3:00 PM: Arizona Fall League Championship Game from Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, AZ
  6. Granderson.
  7. Fangraphs has much, including GIFs, on Duda's arm: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-build-a-scouting-report-for-lucas-dudas-arm/
  8. 4/27: Gee pitches a beauty in Miami, the game only lasts 1:58, Murphy hits a 3-run HR in the 9th, Mets win 3-1, I'm there.
  9. That was Cueto, who was going to be the losing pitcher in Game 6.
  10. bmfc1 wrote: ESPN can pick a game to move to Sunday night as the season opener. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Mets @ KC "rematch". I retract this comment as it appears that Cubs/LAA has already been picked for the ESPN opener: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/index.jsp#date=04/03/2016 Now I'm told at a broadcasting board that there might be more than one game that Sunday so it could still happen.
  11. ESPN can pick a game to move to Sunday night as the season opener. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Mets @ KC "rematch".
  12. 10 to 1 odds. http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id/14034906/vegas-odds-favor-dodgers-win-16-world-series and a good look at next year from Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/can-the-mets-get-back/
  13. Because they couldn't keep it in their pants, so to speak, and act classy by staying inside their dugout before the final out was made.
  14. Brian Kenny is a smart guy and a Mets fan. He says that Terry made the wrong decision: http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/156258966/matt-harvey-9th-inning-game-5-world-series
  15. Centerfield wrote: bmfc1 wrote: Terry is obviously still shaken by the World Series and has neglected to have a DH. Um, the DH rule was abolished in December 2015. Where have you been? Good! I wasn't on the internet because I was staring out the window, waiting for spring.
  16. Terry is obviously still shaken by the World Series and has neglected to have a DH.
  17. Or will Sandy be told to keep it low-cost but close and then they'll spend on July 31, again? 2B is going to be interesting with Murphy a FA (also FA's: Zobrist and Neil Walker). Jim Bowden wrote on ESPN.com that the Mets should move Wilmer to 2B and get a new SS, perhaps Ian Desmond.
  18. Sad, because they lost after having the lead late in 3 games. Tired, you know why. Angry, at the Nationals fan who wrote to me that the "Mets choked" (I let him have it). Grateful, yeah but will be more so in a day or two.
  19. Lefty Specialist wrote: Help needy veterans by buying green lightbulbs from Wal-Mart. That got me: Wal-Mart didn't say "we'll give you one for free" or "buy one and 100% of the cost will go to the Wounded Warriors Foundation".
  20. Agreed dgwphotography. I've already checked to see if the 2016 Spring Training schedule is available (it is not).
  21. I wonder what the six day layoff did to Murphy. All of those interviews, the SI cover--maybe it was simply him cooling off from the incredible hot streak but the contrast between the NLDS/NCLS and the Series was incredible.
  22. The Mets had a lead in every frigging game. Opening Day 2016 isn't going to be fun.
  23. What a shame. The Royals aren't that good, despite the verbal BJs from Buck.
  24. He can. Terry is too worried about the next game. He likely didn't keep Reed in after a clean inning because he wouldn't be available tonight. In the playoffs, you can't be concerned about the next game, especially when you're losing the series.
  25. That, and pitching Familia unnecessarily last night which likely prevented Terry from having Familia start the 8th.
