  1. And now 6 of the 7 SPs the Mets started with are injured within the first 3 months of the season.
  2. Nobody likes Angel Pagan: Some with the Giants muse that the team even misses Angel Pagan, who created an odd sort of unity because most of the players disliked him. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/san-francisco-giants-find-nothing-is-routine-in-troubled-2017-season-062617
  3. Answer the question "how slow are the Mets" in graphic form: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard?year=2017&position=&team=NYM
  4. The Mets won't face Hechavarria--he's going across the state to the Rays: Rotoworld: "Rays acquired SS Adeiny Hechavarria from the Marlins for OF Braxton Lee and RHP Ethan Clark."
  5. Fman99 wrote: Good. 7 PM games. I hat the West coast swings. Good thing they're done with them until... July 24.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Phillies have cut loose outfielder Michael Saunders (signed to a one-year, $8 million contract this offseason, with a $1 million buyout on a second-year option) as well as reliever Jeanmar Gomez (on a one-year, $4.2 million contract). Gomez is one of those mid-level relievers that 2017 is destroying (the Fernando Salas contingent) to the tune of a 7.25 ERA, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mets consider a minor league deal for him. Because if there's anything more brutal on a fringy reliever than 2017, it's 2017 in July in the Pacific Coast League playing for Las Vegas. Agreed on the Mets going after Gomez. He was "highly touted" going into the season so perhaps they can "fix" him. I was hoping they'd try for Stephen Vogt but Milwaukee claimed him.
  7. [tweet:3al24v27] [/tweet:3al24v27] Go ahead.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: Let's get some Chasen Bradford in there! No way! You have to use Blevins while up 6 runs because he didn't pitch yesterday and there's a day off tomorrow. His arm might fall off if he doesn't pitch 3 days in a row (even though he pitched Thursday and Friday and warmed up yesterday). Of course you use Chasen "Down The Wind" Bradford up 6 in the 8th.
  9. Phillip Evans is not having a good season. I know that spring training isn't real but he looked great and I thought that he might help the Mets soon. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=t400&player_id=595943#/career/R/hitting/2017/ALL
  10. This one has all the makings of a bad game: last game of a road trip, it's Sunday afternoon, Montero pitching, Yo out... but it's already 1-0 Mets (even without a hit)!
  11. G-Fafif's column shows that Asdrubal is playing three-dimensional chess while the rest of the organization is playing checkers.
  12. I wasn't concurring with the thread title but I don't know what he's gaining from "going public" with his beef. It's not going to make him more marketable. Playing as well as he has these 2 days will.
  13. He wants to play SS because that's his best position and if the Mets don't exercise his option he needs to show other teams that he can play SS. BUT, he's been bad at SS and playing 2B and/or 3B shows versatility. And yapping never helps your stock. Also: saying that you'll play anywhere but only if the Mets exercise your option for next year doesn't show you to be a team player. So shuddup.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Goeddel looks younger than I remember him. I'm impressed that you remember him (cue Sarah McLachlan).
  15. Chasen "Down The Wind" Bradford is now a Met.
  16. Have we heard the status of the #1 pick? Some #1's have been signed. Maybe it doesn't matter if Sandy will have him rest awhile after the college season.
  17. Much ado this morning about Puig's slow trip after his HR and Flores' response. Puig trots around the bases faster than Flores runs. Here's an idea: stop giving up so many homeruns. And I'm pretty sure that Yo recently clocked in at over 30 seconds, too. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/puig-flores-words-slugger-slow-home-run-trot-article-1.3267785
  18. No truck is going to be backed up to CF in late July, not that it isn't warranted but for 2 reasons: Sandy can only do one thing at a time and trading some or all of Bruce, Granderson, Walker, Duda, Reed is too much work for him. He is also arrogant and some would interpret making multiple trades a sign of failure (it's not but he could see it that way). The other reason is that Jeffy, the 3rd Trump son, thinks that we only want to see "stars" (as if those are stars). I think that 2 months of Ceccini, T.J. Rivera, D. Smith, Nimmo (and dare I say it? Rosario) with an eye toward '18 would be preferable to 2 more months of this but Jeffy won't feel the same way.
  19. http://deadspin.com/keith-hernandez-thinks-hes-off-the-air-says-tanner-roa-1796246741 Keith is now qualified to become President!
  20. From Monday night, after winning 4 of 5 and perhaps restoring our faith, 5 of the 25 players have gone on the DL (Cabrera, Walker, Smoker, Harvey, Lagares).
  21. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Bump. And I don't even need to change the thread title. I would have gone with "Fuck These Fucking Fuckers, Anyone Who Fucks Them, and Their Fucking Fans" but six of one....
  22. Mets pitchers should be identified by their most recent ailment or operation.
  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I forgot that we were at six. It's hard to keep up with all of the moves and maneuvers from this team. Is Reynolds a Met? Montero? TJ Rivera? Could be yes, could be no depending on the day of the week (two yes and one no but that's subject to change). Is there a 6-man rotation? For now yes but if there is a day off then no.
  24. seawolf17 wrote: Seriously, Mets? You couldn't throw your local school a fucking bone, late in the draft? Not even for a guy who was the conference player of the year? Bleh. There should be one round called "The Nepotism Round" where each team drafts someone with some connection, however tangential, to a past or present player, coach, manager or staffer. And then there should be "The Local Round" where each team drafts a local player, if only for the inevitable article in the Pennysaver.
  25. I went to the Nationals-Braves game and saw the Nationals lose. Came home and saw the Mets win. This was a good baseball day.
