  1. FK: That was funny.
  2. Damn, that was nice. Not sure why Jose punched himself in the head twice to celebrate.
  3. Screw you Mattingly and the umps that enable his non-stop BS. The only manager that bitches about calls in spring training.
  4. Gary talked about the Phillies sending down Zach Eflin (who the Mets will see on Thursday) to give them an extra player on the bench: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phillies/zach-eflin-minors-justin-bour-roster-spot-20180811.html (there is a longer look in The Athletic but that's behind a paywall). As fans, we would appreciate the Mets thinking this way (a day off, send a SP down so you have another player on the bench or another reliever) but we forget that the major leaguer loses money and service time.
  5. David can take as long as he wants to make this decision.
  6. This guy is in Binghamton. Note the correct pronunciation of his name but that can't have been an easy name for a kid: http://m.mlb.com/player/519345/joey-terdoslavich
  7. It's surprising that FOX hasn't picked up this game as a national showcase. Maybe ESPN could have the Little Leaguers perform G-FAFIF's dialogue.
  8. What's not funny is that the Mets are 0 and 2 against them this season (with 2 games this week).
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I would suggest that the Mets give him another shot, but I see that he's dead at the present time. So you're saying that they can get him for the league minimum.
  10. There is thought among team officials that perhaps the Mets became too analytics driven in recent seasons under Sandy Alderson’s watch, and a veteran leader with a pure baseball background would help shift the organization toward the center. Dear God.
  11. That's the author with another fine author in The Quaz: http://www.jeffpearlman.com/jon-springer/ Worth it for many reasons but I especially enjoyed the "Rock and Roll Dickheads" line.
  12. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: maybe you have degrom run Or the bullpen catcher.
  13. I enjoyed Keith's "uh oh" as Wilmer "ran" from 1st to 2nd.
  14. I will refrain from calling him "Mesothelioma" for at least the rest of the day.
  15. https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/source-mickey-callaway-expected-to-return-as-mets-manager-next-season-1.20304421 Shouldn't this be up to the new GM?
  16. 41Forever wrote: Maybe we should have brought McNeil up sooner. Like, in May. Why would they have wanted to impede the progress of Jose Reyes?
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Gary and Keith still tearing down Terry on a hot mic as they cut to a commercial. Keith: "This is not good" Gary: "Terrible" Keith: "How can you do that?"
  18. 7th inning begins: Great job by Mickey, Oswalt has a low pitch count, let's see what he can do. 7th inning, two batters later: He pushed him too far, he never pitches into the 7th, should have taken him out.
  19. I wonder if the Tri-GMs were offered anything for Bautista. If they wanted more and declined, his 0 for 20 isn't helping his value for a waiver deal.
  20. Swarzak has finally been pitching well... oh wait, he went on the DL today with a shoulder inflammation issue. Jacob "Match to a" Rahme is back, he of the 8.00 ERA.
  21. Has Teheran ever NOT pitched in a Braves series against the Mets?
  22. Swing the damn bat. Don't let a bad ump beat you--Pawlecki is more than capable of doing that himself.
  23. Nice job staring at a pitch right over the plate, Kevin. Maybe one day the Mets will have a decent catcher again.
  24. Fangraphs: The goal of this is not to say just that the Mets aren’t a good team. Instead, there’s this idea that, thanks to the top of their rotation, the Mets are a potential pitching juggernaut if they can just stay healthy. But even if deGrom and Syndergaard were to combine for 10 WAR next year by themselves, this would still not be a good pitching staff. Wheeler is injury prone, and Matz, despite flashes, hasn’t shown he’s anything more than an inconsistent back-end starter. The bullpen is a problem that’s harder to fix. Aside from Lugo, it’s hard to see anyone in that group that could be counted on as a contributor for a 2019 contender’s bullpen. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/reexamining-the-mets-or-when-one-game-might-mean-something/
