  1. I will be in section 113, row K--$75 seats that I bought for $10 on StubHub (the rats are deserting the third place ship). It's also Beer Stein Night, but: Due to Hurricane Florence, the Oktoberfest Beer Steins were unable to be delivered on time. The first 20,000 fans attending the game will receive a voucher to pick up their steins beginning Wed. 9/26 at the team store.
  2. I missed both ejections. They were lousy calls and there will be no ramifications for the umpire, D.J. ("Dumb Judgement"?) Rayburn. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-nationals/2018/09/20/531695#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=531695 (Does Harper say "go f*** yourself; get it f*****g right"?) This is a fun website: http://portal.closecallsports.com/historical-data/2018-mlb-ejections
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Jackson has only been released by one team this season. Plays like it was two. Should be two with the Mets being the second.
  4. Hard to believe that Austin Jackson was released by only 2 teams this season. Good thing for him he found a team dumb enough to keep him.
  5. The Nationals "Winterfest" is December 1 and 2. Have the Mets announced their Winterfest dates yet?
  6. Matz couldn't have pitched the 6th or was 91 pitches enough?

(I did not verify this information--that means that the Mets have played 5 more games). Cabrera has a strained calf so he is not playing tonight.
  8. I prefer to look at it as Conforto is piling up numbers as his shoulder heals.
  9. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the Jack Reinheimer is not in the Mets long-term plans.
  10. I hope never to see Paul Sewald again except pitching for another team.
  11. I was there. I didn't realize that Joe West was one of the umpires. That helps account for the bad call on something that my son and I clearly saw from the RF corner.
  12. In Game 1, Gary wondered why Keith has less gray hair than Gelbs. Doesn't Gary remember Keith's work for "Just For Men"?

  14. Outstanding!
  15. Great managing, Mickey.
  16. From The Athletic: Wright is not technically retiring after his final game; instead, he will be listed as medically unable to play. That distinction will allow the third baseman to collect the $27 million remaining on his contract and the Mets to still receive insurance money on the deal, provided Wright remains on the team’s 40-man roster. (The club could ultimately reach an agreement with the insurer that would allow them to release Wright and free up that roster spot. The Rangers did the same with Prince Fielder.) https://theathletic.com/523379/2018/09/13/david-wright-prepares-for-one-more-and-one-last-mets-game/

  18. It's Here! Let's see who the calendar people think will be on the team next season: January: Travis d'Arnaud (I'd forgotten what he looks like, especially with the beard) February: Vargas (?)--at least it's the shortest month March: Frazier April: Flores May: Conforto June: Jacob July: Rosario August: Cespedes (timed for his return?) September: Jay Bruce October: Noah November: Nimmo December: Matz https://www.calendars.com/New-York-Mets/New-York-Mets-Wall-Calendar/prod201700003455/?categoryId=cat00433&seoCatId=cat00433

This must mean something with the insurance money paying some of the remainder of his contract. And aren't the Wilpons finances really the biggest issue? I'd bet. They probably have to be careful about the wording. But he made it pretty clear that he's done. Sadly, yes.

  23. Good for The Captain. I suspect that this will be it but at least he's proven to himself that he made it back, even for one game, and he can go out as an active player.
  24. Ashie62 wrote: This is pathetic effort tonight. When Jacob pitches, they are the June Mets. For others, they are the 11-0 Mets. Watch him lose the Cy by 1 or 2 votes because those voters "just couldn't see giving the Cy Young Award to a sub-500 pitcher."
