  1. Gray to the bullpen. How about Vargas for Gray?
  2. Not that it matters as they all perform at the same level of "quality" but there could be 4 different Mets tomorrow: Frazier Matz might go on the DL Evans might go on the DL And they always interchange relievers. I'd vote for glove-throwing Shawn Kelly who was released by WSH today as their GM took a stand on player conduct (not running to first--not a problem; racist tweets--just say that you're sorry; but don't throw a glove!). Also, Bobby Wahl (Familia trade) is doing well so they might as well give him a shot.
  3. Lefty Specialist wrote: THE Jack Reinheimer? Wow. "Jingleheimer Schmidt. His name is my name too."
  4. Great column by Jeff Passan: It’s not injuries that made the Nationals a 52-53 team. It’s the injuries and the culture and the bad luck and the mismanagement and the confluence of things that must mix together to render talent this impressive practically inert. It’s almost impossible to understand. And it’s a mess of their own making. It’s not injuries that made the Nationals a 52-53 team. 5. Guillorme is back to fill the Cabrera slot.
  6. Sickles' comment is consistent with the links, above. He's not as good as they thought he'd be by now but maybe Mickey and Dave can help.
  7. He is now a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. The haul is AA SP Franklyn Kilome. And the Phillies pick up his salary, of course. Kilome is the Phillies' #10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=phi His numbers this year are not great but not bad. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa830592&position=P #129 prospect overall, per Fangraphs: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-updated-top-131-prospect-rankings/ [tweet:1qx54z1u] [/tweet:1qx54z1u] A Phillies blog: https://www.thegoodphight.com/2018/7/27/17623614/phillies-acquire-infielder-asdrubal-cabrera-trade If you are on Twitter, this guy writes about PHI prospects: @Matt_Winkelman He thinks that the Phillies "overpaid" even though Kilome hasn't been as good as he thought.
  8. August 13, the make-up game with the MFYs: exclusively on ESPN. August 16, first game of the double-header with PHI: exclusively on Facebook. (So not a full day-off for GKR.) August 19, Sunday night game in Williamsport, PA: exclusively on ESPN.
  9. [tweet:367sqteh] [/tweet:367sqteh] They have MdD who can "catch the ball" but is not getting "a few hits."
  10. This year's version of Aoki?
  11. Always great to see Cervelli. Nice of him to come off the DL today so we can see him pump his fist.
  12. Per Puma and Martino, they might keep Bautista: [tweet:3s5xfyqc] [/tweet:3s5xfyqc] He cost them nothing and if a team wants to give up a decent prospect for him, I say go ahead.
  13. Thanks d'Kong76, I couldn't figure out how to get it to work.
  14. Andy Martino has an update on which Mets could be traded by the deadline: https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/whats-expected-for-mets-at-deadline-with-cespedes-future-cloudy/287304098
  15. No McNeil, as sharpie suggested. Amed Rosario – SS Asdrúbal Cabrera – 2B Wilmer Flores – 1B José Bautista – RF Michael Conforto – LF Kevin Plawecki – C Brandon Nimmo – CF José Reyes – 3B Corey Oswalt – RHP
  16. I'm guessing that Asdrubal will get the day off so let's get McNeil in the lineup and in front of the campers!
  17. Twitter is saying that the Orioles got more for Britton than the Mets got for Familia. Maybe so (even though Will Toffey homered tonight for Binghamton so he's clearly great) but Britton is better than Familia, the Orioles were probably disinclined to trade within the division and there might have been a bigger demand for Britton.
  18. Also last night, Will Toffey made his debut with the Mets franchise batting 3rd for the RPs and he singled! Did they keep the ball?
  19. Plus, by making the trade on Saturday they saved an extra 10 days of that salary!
  20. Perhaps Borenstein and MdD should be swapped. Nice to see Wahl off to a good start.
  21. That's now a stretch with 21 games in 20 days. The Mets will be in MIA on Sunday, The Bronx on Monday, Baltimore on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Philadephia (for a DH) on Thursday. I hope all that travel does hurt their level of play.
  22. This is good news because Yoenis is guaranteed to be healthy when the game is played.
  23. Just say "discomfort in his right arm" or something that is not laughable.
  24. Between Ricco's inane comments and Noah going on the DL, the game isn't for 3 hours and I'm already losing it.
