  1. If anyone is going to a ST game "hit me up".
  2. "National League Town" is a great listen, and was excited to have it back this week! Thank you!
  3. Fman99 is right: "National League Town" is back with zero dick jokes:
  4. Jayson Stark in The Athletic on why the Mets schedule is how it is this year, and how it explains that tough August: -------------- • Then there are the Mets. They'll play the Brewers, Tigers, Royals, Pirates, Cardinals and Cubs in New York before anybody in the NL East stops by. ... The reason: Since both the Mets and Phillies have to travel to London, MLB wanted to frontload many of their out-of-division games, so they can stick closer to home on either side of that London jaunt. -------------- So the London trip forced MLB to consolidate the Mets West Coast Travel. I'm not sure it had to be done this way (they went to the West Coast in April last season) but it's a reason.
  5. Ben Gamel just walks in and gets 21?
  6. Correct! It's nuts how much is packed into that month.
  7. There were no superfluous comments about Eppler's age or presumptions about his mental state.
  8. I mentioned SLC because of where it is as a place for the A's. IMO, Nashville is a front-runner for an expansion team.
  9. Salt Lake City--you're on deck!
  10. Jay Bruce and John Valentin stay in the game as minor league coaches in the Astros organization: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/jay-bruce-john-valentin-advisors-18635787.phphttps://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/jay-bruce-john-valentin-advisors-18635787.php
  11. Asheville is where Crash Davis hit his record-breaking dinger and then called it quits. https://www.milb.com/news/asheville-tourists-celebrate-their-part-in-bull-durhamhttps://www.milb.com/news/asheville-tourists-celebrate-their-part-in-bull-durham
  12. ESPN has moved the May 12th start time to 7:10 PM.
  13. That was May 15, 2023, a hot day in DC. David Peterson got the start despite having an ERA near 9 because Buck wanted to give Verlander and Sticky Fingers an extra day off (so they could be rested when they played for other teams in the playoffs while partly on the Mets payroll). It was an example of Buck not playing to win and the cover is representative of an awful day for Mets fans, especially those of us who sat through it in person.
  14. Video from Don Giller, "The Donz", the unofficial historian of all things David Letterman.
  15. Excuse me. Election interference! You are an impartial observer. "This Much" is a great headline as it is written to match the joy shown in the photo. "Squat" is about taking a dump. We've never said that the cover must mirror the season although you can vote that way if you see fit (as you said). To me, a cover about pooping is not TCD-worthy. What's next? A picture of Mendoza with his hand below his belt and the caption, "The Mets Are Pissed"?
  16. I was in attendance at two of the final eight games shown in these covers, including "Woetown", and both will lose.
  17. He has only surpassed 129 IP two times, in 2018 and 2023 which were his Cy Young seasons. I'm concerned that after throwing 180 innings last year, for the first time since 2018, he will have arm fatigue.
  18. Even worse than Edgy's faux headline would have been that Daniel Vogelbach was the only Met to survive.
  19. The McNeil cover is clever but a cover with the great Howie Rose (over a cover about pooping) deserves the win.
  20. The good news is that the Mets will not be on any of the first set of Sunday Night ESPN games as announced today. The bad news is that the Mets are not considered good enough, despite being from a "big market", to be on any of these games.
  21. The Chase Utley votes are making me nuts. F that guy.
  22. From D.J. Short (NBC Sports): "Spent some time in the bullpen, but was very good after returning to the rotation in September. 2.25 ERA, 18/2 K/BB ratio in 24 innings across four starts."
  23. A team like WSH should consider this. Their ignorant fan base won't notice and they can trade him in July if he is doing well. To who? A contender that could have just signed him themselves a few months earlier? Does 3 months pitching for a shit team somehow make him less toxic? If a year away in Japan didn't do that for a given franchise I don't see how mid-season they would suddenly be open to him. This is just theoretical but if he's played in the "bigs" for 3 months and excelled (and behaved) maybe that provides cover to a team that is desperate to make the playoffs.
