  1. Marte in the 9th with the bases loaded twice in the last two weeks: K and DP.
  2. Good idea. Let DJ replace Pete, Narvaez replace Alavarez, and Canha replace Marte.
  3. That's right, it's an all LH bench which seems like bad roster management.
  4. I'm curious as to why Buck let Baty bat against a LHP in the 7th when he PH for him against a LHP with Mendick last week in the 6th.
  5. "Or is this Buck being Buck?" This. 90% of the fans would have left Peterson in for another inning but Buck once again has to show how smart he is by using everyone in the bullpen the day before a day off. He's always thinking... of tomorrow, not the game they are playing.
  6. Coming out of the AS break we get a Friday game on Apple+ followed by an exclusive game on FOX. And the Mets are back on Sunday Night v BOS in 3 weeks.
  7. Dammit, Baty. That's on you. You have the easier part: block the bag, catch the ball, and apply the tag. You messed up all 3.
  8. I put on the Kay/Alex R. show b/c they were interviewing Kevin Mitchell and they showed a banner... of the 1973 NL Champion Mets.
  9. A rain delay hurts the Mets as they have to fly to AZ. There's an off-day tomorrow b/you want to get there as quickly as possible to get acclimated to the time change and to rest. If it's rained out the SF is on the east coast again in August and both teams have a mutual off-day on August 24.
  10. Thanks so much for Buck-splaing to me. I know what he meant but I also know how I interpreted the quote.
  11. Is Buck saying that we shouldn't doubt that they will fall further below .500?
  12. Gwreck: as far as we know, that's on the pitchers. Max's WAR is 1.1. Senga's WAR is 1.0. Those are 1 and 2 on the team. https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/metshttps://www.fangraphs.com/teams/mets The Peterson move (and I hope he pitches a complete game shutout) is on management as they knew they need a SP for Tuesday after Thursday's day-off and their continued intent to give Senga, Max and JV as much rest time as possible (it looks like they'll be resting in October) so why did they have Lucchesi pitch on Friday (in turn)?
  13. The starting pitching isn't going to improve as Peterson is starting on Tuesday. He was awful for the Mets, he's been awful for the Syracuse Mets but the timing works for him to start. Timing over quality.
  14. Congratulations to Max for pitching SIX INNINGS and giving up two runs. What a $43M warrior!
  15. If it gets to July and they are still dropping popups and running to 1B via the mound then perhaps you trade everyone that won't be here next year, including Pham and Canha (ugh, I'm a fan!), for more "one-year away" prospects. The earlier you do it (as with the EE trade) the more value the other team gets out of the player. The Mets can keep their core intact so they can claim they are not giving up on this season while trying to improve the team for next year and the farm system overall.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Escobar would be pinch-hitting for Vogebach here if he was, you know, a Met. Not sure why Canha wasn't up there. Buck was asked about this and he said that Vogelbach was hot and he only had one pinch-hitter (a by-product of making the trade during and not after the game) so he chose to PH for Baty (even though Vogelbach can hit LHPs about as well as he can run and field).
  17. Edgy MD wrote: Frayed Knot wrote: Those runs were all earned ... but they kind of weren't. We're sort of trapped by out-of-date — ancient, by baseball standards — ideology when it comes to what we judge to be an outfield error and, consequently, what we judge to be earned runs. Right. It's absurd that Senga had to be charged with 2 ERs because his teammates can't catch a pop-up but it wasn't clear who should get the error as neither player touched the ball so there was no error on the play (hopefully the FO is trying to fix this stupidity).
  18. Last September when he was rolling he would hit a HR, high-five his teammates and then look at the camera and send a high-five to the fans. I loved that.
  19. I'm still working it.
  20. More terrible fundamentals by a team managed by someone who is supposed to have fundamentals taken care of.
  21. So unless this gets really bad in the 9th, Buck didn't use Robertson for a 2d inning yesterday so the BP wouldn't be further shorthanded tonight... and Robertson wasn't needed tonight.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Have zero cahnfidence in Lindor these days. Lindor doesn't have confidence in Lindor at the moment.
  23. Curtiss was docked "ball one" b/c he didn't have his PitchCom connected on time when he was rushed into the game.
  24. I thought that Buck had tightened everything up but they're getting called for time violations and lead MLB is sticky-related ejections.
