  1. Agreed with LWFS...I think David sticks around as long as they contend even if it means he has a diminished role. He stuck with the team through the leanest of years to get to this point...I can't imagine him walking away. Carried away on a stretcher? Maybe.
  2. Terry gives us his inner Donald Trump today: Adam Rubin quoting Terry Collins wrote: "My relationship with David Wright is the best I've ever had with any player. There was, believe me, no problem." http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/118729/terry-collins-there-was-no-tiff-with-david-wright
  3. I'm OK with putting in Laggy instead of Conforto vs. Gio (LHP). Michael is only batting .154 against LHP this season. Four singles. Lagares is batting .296 with one double against LHP. Both are small ample sizes (about 27 ABs for each), but I think this is the right call today.
  4. The Phils add one more in the eighth and finish the game 4-2 victors. The Phillies are in a virtual tie for first in the NL East pending the Nats and Mets later today. Philadelphia's 24 wins are currently more than any other NL team not named the Chicago Cubs.

This statement was included in the ESPN "News Feed" on their main page and didn't link to an article. [fimg=500]http://i.imgur.com/cTZrX1n.png[/fimg] If you check out the Mets clubhouse page on ESPN and scroll down, you can see the blurb from Rubin again on that feed.
  6. Tom Koehler gives the two back plus one. 3-2 Phils after 4.
  7. I'm keeping up on the Marlins and Phils. The Marlins take an early 2-0 lead in the first behind two RBI doubles from Yelich and Ozuna vs. Hellickson. I was stunned to hear Al Leiter doing color for the game on Fox Sports Florida. I guess (in addition to his YES work) he is doing select Marlins games this year.

  9. Those names have to be jokes...right?

  12. Worries here.
  13. Lucas Duda Out Of Lineup With Back Issue Mets Merized Online wrote: First baseman Lucas Duda is out the lineup with a back issue according to manager Terry Collins and not benchedas general manager Sandy Alderson first described it. Collins says Duda was pretty stiff over the weekend and was treated with an injection Monday after being examined by team doctors. Duda, 30, is batting .236 with a .299 OBP and .447 slugging over 137 plate appearances this season. He has hit seven home runs and collected 19 RBI while striking out 27 times.
  14. Let the battle begin! I'm very excited for this series. [fimg=600:1thv8ikp]http://41.media.tumblr.com/8bf025ecc11d370b3cac3fea728a1c50/tumblr_np0wybQ89m1qgjv49o1_1280.jpg[/fimg:1thv8ikp]

You want him in there all 6 against the Nats, so does that mean he gets Friday AND Sunday off against the Marlins to try to keep him from playing 4 in a row? Or do you just bite the bullet and give him next Wednesday's day game against the Nats off? And Thor? He goes Tuesday and then on pace for Sunday against the Marlins. You gotta find a way to push him back to Monday against the Nats right? If it's me, I go Syndergaard, Harvey, deGrom, Colon, Verrett, spot starter, Syndergaard, Harvey, deGrom during this homestand. That raises the value of your pitching against your prime rival significantly, and it's little tweaks like this that Collins doesn't do that aggravate me more than anything else. It's the Brewers instead of the Marlins over this weekend. Not to look past them, but I'm more comfortable resting guys up vs. Milwaukee than a division rival.
  16. Honestly, I think the day off will help. If nothing else, the guys will get some rest and can hopefully prepare mentally for what they will see this week.
  17. Weather looks like it could be an issue today in Denver.

  19. After Friday's action, the Mets are a game back from Washington and are only a half game ahead of the Phillies. The Nats are scheduled to play two on Saturday.
  20. I think I've said it before, but I find the challenge system utterly ridiculous (in both MLB and NFL). If replay is that important, add an extra ump up at the press level who has access to TVs for each game. If it looks like the call on the field was wrong, that ump would signal down to the crew chief to hold up while he takes an extra look. If the goal TRULY is to get the calls on the field right, then the onus should not be on the team manager to have the umps review. As far as the time taken under this scenario, it would probably add some minutes to the game (like it does during the final two minutes of each half in the NFL). But, if that's a big deal, then scrap it. Pace of the game and replay do not work together and it's hard to have it both ways. My prime choice is no replay at all.
  21. Some of the threads are taking me to different ones. The Republican Race 2016 thread in the NBF takes me to Dodger baseball cards...LOL! Not complaining, as I'm sure this will get worked out, just reporting the issue. Great work guys!
  22. Harvey showed improvement in his last start...I'm looking for even more tonight. This is his last tune-up before facing WAS next week.
