  2. The Cards put down the Phils 4-0 this afternoon behind a strong performance from Jaime Garcia.
  3. Is backpack girl coming with?
  4. The silver lining is that they have done what they are supposed to do against the weaker teams. They are besting last season's record to this point (and 2015 included that improbable 11 game win streak in April). It's still early and I try not to glean too much about the season until around Memorial Day, but as has been noted in a couple of other threads, it seems as if the NL this season is sharply divided between the "haves" and "have-nots". The Dodgers should be in the "have" group", but it's hard to tell how good they truly are yet. I'm hoping the Mets continue to cruise...even with the tougher schedule.
  5. Nats at Cubs four game series starts tomorrow. Something's gotta give!
  6. When is the proper time to start being concerned about this?
  7. I'm also skeptical that their rotation will perform as well as they have over the course of a long season.
  8. This was a pretty sloppy game played on both sides. I can't get too upset about the offense as they did generally hit the ball hard all night. I'm officially concerned about Harvey. Seems like he's either hurting or his confidence is shot (or both).
  9. Is that Mick Fleetwood tickling the faders in the opening seconds of that vid?

  11. ESPN continuing to cut him even though he's already gone, too. http://nypost.com/2016/05/02/curt-schilling-irate-after-espn-scrubs-him-from-red-sox-doc/
  12. I would steal bases on that kid ALL DAY! He's not even looking over. Cute stuff.
  13. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-mlb-predictions/ fivethirtyeight.com has the Mets rated as the second best team in the MLB (just behind the Cubs and just in front of the Nats) as of the games played through yesterday. Per the site, the forecast is based on 50,000 simulations of the season and accounts for starting pitchers, travel distance and rest. The ratings update after each game.
  14. I'm looking for them to start a new streak tomorrow. I can't remember if this was mentioned during the first home stand, but I just noticed the blue dots on the caps (and helmets) today which is something I missed during the first throwback uniform game. I liked that, but my brain can't wrap around the image of the racing stripes at Citi Field instead of Shea.
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: My feeling right now is that the division will be determined by the head-to-head between the Mets and the Nationals. (Strange that their first meeting won't be until May 17; all of the other divisional opponents have already met the Mets.) Six games in May: hopefully they'll come at a time when the Mets are hot and the Nats are not. Agreed. Ronnie in the booth last night was going through Harvey's next batch of starts (as long as the Mets stick with a five-man rotation). Essentially he was saying he wanted to continue to see Matt make improvements vs. weaker teams like ATL, SD and COL, but that Harvey needs to have his shit fully together (paraphrasing, obviously) by the time that first Nationals series rolls around May 17-19.
  16. I think this weekend against SF will be good test for the Mets. The Giants are certainly the best team they have played since that wacky two-game series vs. KC to open the year.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: It was the 2nd of the year for FFF who now has half of the team's season total. The first for Freeman since Opening Day, IIRC.
  18. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate off days?
  19. He's so high, he can't come down. Jim Breuer WWW.FACEBOOK.COM Jim Breuer. 1,778,176 likes · 103,739 talking about this. See me on Tour https://www.jimbreuer.com/tour
  20. I'm all for replacing Jim Breuer's game recap vids with these in '16.
  21. I'm curious about leading off with De Aza instead of Laggy, too.
  22. This was the most thrilling game for me so far in this early season. It genuinely felt like some of the magical games from late 2015. While the Mets are the hottest team in baseball right now, I'm still hoping this win will propel them to further greatness. It was great to see the dugout reacting the way they did after the Cespedes HR.
