  1. I will Bart more than I miss most other departing players. A truly underrated part of the successes of the past three years.
  2. The Bart Depart means a smaller margin of error here.
  3. I'm bullish on Harvey's recovery...I just hope we get 2015 Harvey back and not the 2016 version.
  4. Centerfield wrote: That's the other thing. Wheeler was no ace even before he got hurt. Well, wait, wait, wait. I'm not claiming that Wheeler will come back at or near what he was...but what he was was more than enough to positively contribute to a rotation that has a healthy Thor, Harvey and de Grom. Ace? No, but he put up the numbers that most #4s strive for before he got hurt. And he throws heat.
  5. I think Wheeler, Harvey and Matz are ALL major question marks as to how much they can give in early (if not all of) 2017. It seems to me that we could always find a spot for Colon.
  6. So, before any moves (like maybe re-signing Colon or a Familia suspension), the Mets setup and closer tandem are expected to make more than the entire projected starting rotation. I knew this in my head because of the young starters, but it's still kind of shocking to see it in black and white.
  7. I'm sure Zobrist will live as a hero to Cubs fans for eternity, but as far as the Mets are concerned, I'm not sure he would have given us much more than what we got out of the 2B position in 2016. I'm still glad we didn't go long term on Zobrist. He will decline and and it may bite the Cubs in the ass...but hey, they got a ring, so what do I know.
  8. After having missed most of the series before it, I tuned in during the pitch just before the Davis HR, so of course I had to keep watching until the end...though, I did it with the volume turned down.
  9. After an Eternity, the Cubs and the Indians Will Have to Wait One More Day “If you’re a fan of baseball, this is the best outcome you could possibly hope for in a World Series anyone’s been alive for,” Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo said. I'm a fan of baseball and this is not the best outcome I could have hoped for...because the Mets are not playing. Dick.
  10. I've watched about 15 total minutes of this series. I honestly cannot take Joe Buck anymore...he gets worse every year. I will find a pirated international feed when the Mets make it back to the WS. Smoltz is fine, but it is all consumed by how horrible Buck is.
  11. I'm with the Indians...but I'd be fine with a Cubs win, too. I live in relatively close proximity to Cub Land and have many Cub-fan friends. There have been more than a few peeps jumping on the bandwagon this year and last. It is hard to tell the difference between who the genuine long-suffering fans are and those who are just experiencing the Cubs for the first time now that they are built to succeed. I do have several childhood friends (thanks for keeping us in touch, Facebook!) that were Cubs fans then and are Cubs fans now...and I do hope the Cubs win it for them. But the swath of "new" Cubs fans were ready to host the World Championship flag on Opening Day and haven't shut up about it since.
  12. Like super quiet here. I think it's clear this won't get done by the end of the World Series. I fear he's gone. Buster Onley's Insider* headline this morning: Mets have the luxury to slow-play winter market with Cespedes *I didn't link to the article because of its Insider-iness.
  13. MFS62 wrote: Larry King might not be able to get tickets behind home plate for the games in Chicago. But the look on his face when LA was losing was priceless. He was conducting a sit-down-strike last year.
  14. C'mon, Turner wasn't worth all that much during his time with the Mets. He's blossomed as a Dodger, but I'm not sure anyone saw that coming. He was never more than a bench player in NYC (on some pretty bad teams, too).
  15. I think the Mets beat the Tigers as well in '06. '07 and '08 had a lot going on even outside the final weeks of each season that it's hard to know where the alternate history goes.
  16. [fimg=184]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-viDDNsf1c-Q/Ty7MDeVNSmI/AAAAAAAAO5A/684-2BaYJVE/s1600/Upper%2BDeck%2B1989%2BCerrano.JPG[/fimg]
  17. I make the offer.
  18. Wonderful...as always! Thanks for your hard work!
  19. I'm not a d'A fan and am ready to move on...though, I'm not sure what the best answer is, yet. Like most things this season, we may not a have a clear answer on how they fill the catcher's role until they know more about the Cespedes sitch.
  20. So with Noah, do bone spurs go away or is he just playing with pain (however slight) for the rest of his career?
  21. I'd rather have won and it was a tough way to lose, but I'm satisfied, too. While the stakes were not as high as October baseball, I feel like Mets fans were treated to a few solid weeks of entertaining and meaningful baseball in September of 2015.
  22. This was a great game until it wasn't.
  23. I thought Irish might chime in there.
