  1. This is a bit off-topic, but I don't understand the appeal of Backman as a serious 2011 managerial candidate. If anyone wants to give me the skinny on why there are big boners out there for him, I'd be mighty obliged. On edit...Edgy read my mind...AGAIN!
  2. Gary likes to mention Niese's brithdate every other game or so. Josh Thole was born the very next day.
  3. At least the Mets will have Jesus for this series. Nobody fucks with the Jesus.
  4. Every other KTE this year is out of it's element, Donnie. Brav--fucking--o!
  5. "triple-slashed"? That's a new one for me.
  6. PTBNL. At least this gets Nick Evans back to AAA.
  7. Respectable Aquisition Thanks Omar.
  8. Tak will be skipped this week, so Johan will pitch tonight (Wednesday) and Dickey tomorrow, followed by Pelf on Friday. The Mets offense did their job against Wainwright. Time for Johan to sew this thing up.
  9. That's Jose Acosta and Jorge Castillo along with Pedro Lopez and Cesar Nicolas. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100727&content_id=12676578&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb I know this joke is old, but I like it.
  10. Dave Jauss says: "I was worried about being axed on the plane ride home, but now look at me! I'm managing, biatch!"
  11. I let him bat too. If I'm an NL manager, I work with my starting pitchers' offense a lot more to make sure that they can at least get the bunt down and put the ball in play when needed. I don't need them to be .300 hitters, but they need to be helping the cause as best they can with the bat and not be an automatic out. But yeah, I'd let him bat unless I didn't think he had anything left.
  12. The game's on MLB Network for out-of-towners. In fact, this whole series is nationally televised as they will be on ESPN Wednesday then back to MLB Network for the gay dame on Thursday.
  13. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: That's nice since they wouldn't have to change nameplates in the locker room or stitch new unis. That made me smile.
  14. How would Minaya be able to improve this offense at the deadline? I don't see it happening. At this point, even though nominal pitching is available, I would have no problem with him standing pat and saving any chips we have for 2011.
  15. 2010 has been a rollercoaster, but when they have played well, they have exceeded any expectation I had for them in March. A game over .500 in late July is too soon for me to "give up". I'll still be surprised if they actually pull anything off this season, but I think they have a couple nice streaks left in them...which is enough for me to keep watching.
  16. Nolan Ryan...it's all I got.
  17. I vote for Matt Frewer a.k.a. Max Headroom as Art Howe:
