  1. My All-Davis Team probably wouldn't beat the All-Johnson Team, but I'll throw it up there: Rotation: 1934 Curt Davis (19-17, 2.95 ERA) 1920 Dixie Davis (18-12, 3.17 ERA) 1954 Jim Davis (11-7, 3.52 ERA) 2005 Doug Davis (11-11, 3.84 ERA) 1988 Storm Davis (16-7, 3.70 ERA) (Thanks DocTee on edit!) Bullpen: 1979 Ron Davis (14-2, 2.85 ERA) 1989 Mark Davis (4-3, 1.85 ERA, 44 Svs) Lineup: 1897 George Davis SS (BA: .353, 10 HR, OPS: .918, 65 SB) 1969 Willie Davis RF (BA: .311, 11 HR, OPS: .811) 1987 Eric Davis CF (BA: .293, 37 HR, OPS: .991) 1962 Tommy Davis 3B (BA: .346, 27 HR, OPS: .910) 1994 Chili Davis LF (BA: .311, 26 HR, OPS: .971) 1984 Alvin Davis 1B (BA: .284, 27 HR, OPS: .888) 1986 Glen Davis DH (BA: .265, 31 HR, OPS: .837) 1983 Jody Davis C (BA: .271, 24 HR, OPS: .795) 1940 Crash Davis 2B (BA: .269, 0 HR, OPS: .623)

It seems they (and Jerry) are laying low and waiting for the season to end, and I think the players (and fans IMO) deserve a little of the vision thing, so they don't have to waste their energy trying to muster it themselves. Yes, yes, yes.

  4. Via my lady's iPhone: We had a wonderful time at Citi Field on Friday. Seeing a win was great... Getting to meet Greg and hanging out with the Second Spitter and Gwreck was pretty awesome. My girl and I both really loved the stadium and we are still vacationing in NYC. I'll post some pictures when I get back home. Let's Go Mets!
  5. I'll be in attendance Friday night with my lady. It will be my first trip to Citi. Yea!
  6. I don't consider this over the line in any way. Milwaukee has a stadium named Miller Park. Alcohol is alcohol. Anyone who is teetotalling should steer clear of baseball.
  7. Jay Payton wore it well for a few years prior to Cameron. Jay Bell not so much.

  9. Awesome stuff here.
  10. They have Chad Cordero as well, though I believe he only has a minor league deal for this season, so that may prohibit them from calling him up. He's only 28, so he could be part of the bullpen solution.
  11. Chipper Jones tore a something-or-other in his leg, and his season, and perhaps his career, may be over. ACL. I feel for the dude. Most likely an abrupt ending to a Hall of Fame career. Terrible news for him physically, but if it saves him the formality of retiring, he can stay on the DL next year and keep getting paid. Per Yahoo! report: The 38-year-old Jones says now is not the right time to make a decision to quit. He says he will go through the rehab process before making a final decision on his future.
  12. Reyes SS Pagan LF Wright 3B Beltran CF Hessman 1B Francouer RF Blanco C Tejada 2B Dickey P Retarded. Show me the plan Jerry, because it seems like you are back-handedly trying to lose.
  13. Fast track this guy: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=P&sid=t422&t=p_pbp&pid=463039 I just might need to adopt him.

  15. With the rest of the salary that needs shedding, I don't see how we aren't stuck with him until next year's trading deadline. Any deal made now or in the offseason would probably cause the Mets to pick up a bunch of salary and get little to nothing in return. Maybe I'm under estimating his value, but that's how I see it. As far as guys we have that are making too much money, he is the least of our under-performing problems.
  16. With 48 games to go, the 2010 Mets are only 6 HR behind their total for all of 2009.

  18. Now if we could just win two in a row...
  19. This whole thing is pretty ridiculous...sad and embarassing.
  20. He's only 31...I would have guessed older. A healthy Sheets has always been an elite pitcher...but he's been off and on the DL for years now.
  21. I thought Pagan couldn't hit lefties?
  22. Well, I've always hated the Cardinals back from the days when they were in the NL East. But, 2006 brought on a whole new group to hate. And not just for Molina's HR or Wainwright's curve. Pujols claimed that Glavine's 2006 NLCS Game One performance (7 IP, 4 H, 0 R...including a strikeout, a walk and a lineout to Pujols) "wasn't all that good". Also, their . If this race goes down to the wire, I'll root hard for the Reds. The Cardinals are little bitches that I hate, too.
