  1. Per this article, Bobby Bo starts earning $1.19 million per year on 07/01/11 until 2035. Yikes! http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703426004575339013108198050.html
  2. Yeah, I think it will get slightly worse before it gets better. 2010 had moments of hope for contending...I'm not sure 2011 will at all...or maybe that it should. It does seem apparent that the Wilpons have some sort of blueprint for the offseason. I'm already considering 2011 a rebuilding year in my mind even if the Mets' martketing department comes up with some stupid slogan about going for it all in order to sell tickets. I am very hopefull that 2012 will be a season to root for a championship once the new regime has a year under it's belt, the youngsters have time to improve and a bunch of money comes of the books.
  3. Is that Lenny Harris in your avatar? Love it.
  4. You are correct...this is what happens when I tune out mid-September. Well, still, no clinching vs. the Mets. On edit: Say, hey! I'm Willie Mays!
  5. G-FAFIF gave me a reason to watch in the NL East thread...I don't want the Phils clinching at Citi! LGM!
  6. I thought this one was going to be a race, but the Phils winning 10 in a row has them 6 up and they now have a magic number of 4 over the Bravos. Looks like Atlanta has fallen into another race...battling the loser of San Diego and San Francisco for the Wild Card.
  7. I'll admit, I've been pretty bad about watching the Mets since the calendar turned to September. I've caught a couple of glimpses to check out the youngsters, but I've definitely seen more NFL games this month than Mets games. I'm probably with Grimm...I may tune in a couple more times this season if I'm bored, but I'll more likely see the boys again in spring.
  8. The Mets have as many division winning seasons as the Red Sox in the past ten. As many 97+ win seasons, as well.

  10. Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse about my team... Thanks CF.

  12. Jauss fully managed this victory: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN201007270.shtml viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14389
  13. That's a surgery for each year he's been a Met. Cripes.

  15. This story is such a waste of ink and bandwidth.
  16. They sucked with him, they suck without him. I never had any concern with his performance. But, that's not to say several other in-house players can't do what he did for a small fraction of the price (and less headaches). I hadn't thought much about him over the past few weeks...so I guess not much.
  17. This is the last weekday-gay-dame-business-person's special of 2010 IIRC.
  18. Second Spitter, Gwreck and myself on 8/27/10. More photos from the game and my trip here:
  19. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Francoeur was one of three or four players on his own gigantic subway poster in this year's preseason "We Believe" ad campaign. Why not...he was one of the 3 or 4 best players on the team during his time here last season. I'm not surprised the team would choose his goofy-toofy grin as something to build on during the pre-season after a dismal 2009. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Frenchy was literally the poster boy for the franchise. If we're being literal, I would wager Wright, Reyes, Santana and even K-Rod appeared on more Mets posters than Frenchy over the past 13 months. batmagadanleadoff wrote: His image was selected for display on an oversized 2010 Topps baseball card at CF for the installation where Mets history is represented by one Topps Mets card from every season of the team's existence. That was a mistake...so I'll agree with you there. But, let's not confuse the team getting behind an unexpected bright spot from the 2009 season with being one of the most over-hyped Mets of the past 15-20 years. Nearly everyone on the 2002 roster was more over-hyped than Frenchy was this season.
  20. I don't think Fracoeur was over-hyped by anyone other than Jerry Manuel.
  21. Thanks, I've added him in. After looking at the Davis vs. Johnson battle a little closer, I'd bet the Davises could compete. The Johnsons look like a much better rotation, but the Davis clan has a slightly better lineup and bullpen IMO)
