  1. Matt Olsen to the... Braves? Freddie Freeman gone?? WTF is happening https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/athletics-trade-matt-olson-braves.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/athletics-trade-matt-olson-braves.html

  3. Sounds like this could've ended wayyyy differently for Pete. Glad he (and whoever was with him in the car) are walking around and still amongst the living.
  4. I think with Nike the maker's mark on all jerseys, big sneaker is probably unlikely as a sponsor. I hope it's not Big Pharma, but healthcare companies litter the American soccer jersey sponsor landscape. Also with Cohen on board, I guess we shouldn't be surprised if some big-swinging investor outfit like Deloitte or Bear Stearns is the sponsor.

  6. I smoked a lot of weed last year but I'm pretty sure
  7. Phillies desperately trying to reassemble that Mets bully of 2k21
  8. =smg58 post_id=86992 time=1647268697 user_id=62] Maybe somebody could make a large donation to put the Ukrainian flag on the unis?
  9. It's so so rare to have a sponsor on a uniform that doesn't make you want to retch. I'd love to see the Metropolitan Museum of Art pony up to be the sponsor. If you could talk them into an alternate color scheme, this would be more than ok, I think. Even if it had to be red, I'm sure folks could live with something like this on breast patch: https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/images/the-met-art-2-1623255995.jpg?crop=0.502xw:1.00xh;0,0&resize=640:*> Aside from that, Citi comes to mind. JetBlue maybe? Or some other airline? But no one really wants to see those. My long shot: KraneShares. They're a NY-based investment company whose CEO leads the ownership group of USL soccer team Queensboro FC. They've previously paid to have "KraneShares" on soccer kits before, but not sure if they have the buxxx to make the jump from second-tier soccer to MLB. 10. Our old pal Ty Kelly hangs up the Twitter account and jumps back into baseball signing with LA. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/dodgers-sign-ty-kelly-to-minor-league-deal.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/dodgers-sign-ty-kelly-to-minor-league-deal.html
  11. ALMORA should be gliding toward easy victory here, folks
  12. Yeah I pretty much hate this but when I rage against the machine nowadays, it's for things much more important in life. The kids today, I imagine, don't give a single shit about this one way or the other. I'm with Methead and BG and think baseball has maybe achieved the worst of possible outcomes: fan apathy. While there are writers and fans who still rail against the devolution of this sport, it feels to me like the greater collective response (for those that even noticed) was a shrug.
  13. I think I sent you (someone?) a trade offer. I guess we can still trade at this point?? Let's trade dudes!
  14. Yeah, why not. Assuming he's part of a collection of 7-8 rotation guys every team needs nowadays.
  15. Sad news on Jeff Innis:
  16. Not a huge fan of either but I like the SQUIRREL uses all the space on the cover. The Newsday top and bottom borders detract from the vibez.
  17. SNY: “Yes to Gary, and why stop there!” https://sny.tv/articles/keith-hernandez-mets-number-retired-more-metshttps://sny.tv/articles/keith-hernandez-mets-number-retired-more-mets
  18. "wasting time with happy talk" makes me chortle every time I see it
  19. No on Gary. But if the lockout drags on and the Mets keep starving for content and engagement...
  20. I don't know. Not to besmirch the great name of Mookie Hayward Wilson, but from 80-86 (arbitrary, but glorious end point), Lynn picked up 19.6 fWAR (age 28-24) and the trio of Mookie, Leary and Allen racked up a combined 22.7 fWAR (21.9 with Reardon in there instead). It's not great, but doesn't seem colossally dumb on first glance. What cooks my noodle is would we still have gotten Keith if we didn't have Neil Allen to dump on St. Louis?
  21. Edgy MD wrote: A Boy Named Seo wrote: Is Vincent Van Go on the forefront of your brain when you think of Vince Coleman? Tim McCarver was pretty committed to it as a Mets announcer during Vince's formative years with the Cards, but as Vince became a liability in the second half of his career, and McCarver moved on to other pastures, the nickname seemed to retire well before he did. We had a poster around here for a short time named "Vince Coleman Firecracker," and as uncreative and unappealing as the name was, I think that's the typical first association folks have with the guy, certainly among Mets fans. Thanks. I'm also realizing I maybe didn't watch a ton of Mets games in the early 90s.
  22. I'd be shocked, shocked I tell you!, if there weren't a run of signings announced right after the lockout ends.
  23. Yeah, agreed. And he likes those guys more. The bigger name guys (Fisk, Gooden, even Vince Coleman) who are naturally harder to pin down, he seems to write less flattering about them. Jaime Cocanower was the BBQ guy. That was a pretty good chapter. Don Carman was great, too.
