  1. Great find, I love shit like this. I don't what Nimmo and his family's style is, but I suspect they won't be trying to buy all the staging furniture. Maybe they won't end up with a rope-lined wagon wheel in the house, but maybe they will? I bet he told his agent "anything ranch-style" but ranch-style apparently looks hella different in the east.
  2. Perhaps Adam Ottavino should now remove himself from Team USA. Why? To go participate in a different set of "exhibition" games instead? The only guarantee Adam Ottavino has to preventing an injury is don't play baseball.
  3. Easier to know where I stand on things when Olbermann has hot take. It feels extremely selfish (and a bit of a shit American POV) to decry players from different places for wanting to represent their countries and call it "meaningless". It may mean nothing to Keith fucking Olbermann, but it's a huge source of pride and means a lot to a lot of players.
  4. =nymr83 post_id=119902 time=1678973598 user_id=54]Fuck the WBC!
  5. For those saying Diaz wouldn't have been hurt in a postgame celebration in spring training, well obviously that's wholly true and I agree. But if you saw the actual celebration, it's apparent that the injury was a freak thing, not caused by a dog pile or something nefarious in the celebration. They were like kids doing little bunny hops and if his ACL or his achilles ruptured (please god no) doing that, then my dudes, that coulda happened climbing out of his car or walking up the steps or playing with hid kid.
  6. =bmfc1 post_id=119862 time=1678933646 user_id=73] F these exhibitions. Remove Pete, Jeff, and Adam from the USA roster immediately. F the WBC. Pete and Jeff aren't even playing tonight. There is no purpose for them being there instead of with the Mets.

  8. His brother Alexis is sobbing. This looks bad, guys.
  9. Oh Jesus, Edwin Diaz just got hurt (looks like pretty damn seriously) during the post-game (!!) celebration. He's getting carried off the field. Lindor looks crushed.

  11. And stay out! Nah, that's a bit unfortunate. His numbers were kinda intriguing and I thought he'd have a shot given the uncertainty in the pen.
  12. That is awesome, great for the Duque. It's remarkable that in 2023, there could be that much talent that is somehow "undiscovered". Stuff like this reminds me of the World Cup. A dude somehow no one knows from a small country has a great appearance and is signed by Chelsea for €80 a half an hour later.
  13. WBC was really goddamn fun, yall. Had a day/night doubleheader on Saturday with Dodgers/Cubs and USA/GB. Took only one picture in the day time game, but it was on a pitch that Syndergaard gave up a bomb to someone. LOL [fimg=500]https://i.imgur.com/dzb1Jkk.jpeg[/fimg] The spring training game was very crisp (the clock and pace was absolutely apparent) but it was 100% spring training vibes. Get a beer and get some sun and watch some baseball. I was a little disappointed the game was only 2:20. The sun felt good on my skin after all the snow and cold this winter. Zip back to the hotel, get an uber and go downtown to the Diamondbacks stadium for the night game. Vibes 100% different. Lines were around the block to get into the stadium an hour and a half before start time. The energy before first pitch felt as close to a playoff baseball game as I've experienced outside an actual playoff game. Everyone standing. Some USA USA chants. Bunch of dudes dressed like founding fathers. A handful of disappointed fans because Alonso was on the pine (ok, just me). 39,650 was the attendance reported in the box score and it was electric. [FIMG=600]https://i.imgur.com/fDLuqtJ.jpeg[/FIMG] Our neighbors were from Tijuana and came for both WBC games that day. Even though Mexico wasn't playing that game, there were a TON of Mexican fans in the stadium and they were FUN. Watching that group of American all-stars warm up before the game was pretty wild. The offense is just littered with super stars. This part is anecdotal, but there seemed like way more kids on the kid-to-adult ratio at the WBC game than the ST game. And it felt like every person there stopped what they were doing when Mike Trout did anything. He has a magnetism that I know he doesn't totally embrace, but everyone there was keyed in on Trout. He is baseball's reluctant Lebron James. [FIMG=400]https://i.imgur.com/HAxZkwA.jpeg[/FIMG] Due to time restraints (but mostly money) we skipped USA/Mexico last night (StubHub had tickets started at $250 for the sold out game). I did have a friend in attendance who has been to lots of Rockies and AAA Albuquerque games, and got this update from him during the game which summed it all up perfectly: [attachment=0]7E1E9377-9E21-4DA7-9590-46FA3B2ECB04.jpeg[/attachment] TL;DR - the WBC is awesome. Go once if you ever get the chance.
  14. I don't, but I don't have the tubi app installed on this TV. Dayummm, Tokyo Dome was rocking last night! https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani-dominates-in-japan-s-world-baseball-classic-opener?game_pk=719533https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani-dominates-in-japan-s-world-baseball-classic-opener?game_pk=719533
  15. I'm kinda looking forward to the US start times. The 5am/11pm thing ain't really working for me.

[fimg=450]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/L9IAAOSwmKNhzkUs/s-l1600.jpg[/fimg] Those are the main two I've found, so at least the Mets are ahead of the MLB curve. Bradley Beal has a little Black Panther at his feet helmet but Trae and Starling just get the BP logo thing. Interesting to see how they go from NBA players (shorts and tanks, no visible team logo) to MLB (slacks and Mets sleeve logo).

  18. Some interesting stuff on the give-away nights and some mysteries, too (what the hell is the Kodai Senga Glow-in-the-Dark Ghost Fork Ball??) https://www.mlb.com/mets/tickets/promotions/schedule#promotionshttps://www.mlb.com/mets/tickets/promotions/schedule#promotions I like that they did a soccer, hockey, basketball, football Mets jerseys, but they (maybe predictably) were a little boring with the execution. Pete Alonso's dorky sunglasses? The crowd will look hilarious that day. Buck Showalter windbreaker? Kinda funny. Mr. Met / Indiana Joes bobblehead? Weird, but ok. Starling Marte / Black Panther bobblehead? Pretty cool. This would be a SUPER FUN job to have. https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/t_1x1/t_w640/mlb/j9ak2g3q1rborwisdtjd.png>
  19. Team Dominican Republic is currently pounding the Braves 5-0 behind 3 ribbies from some dude named Canó.
  20. Ben Verlander also has a crush on my crush so now I'm just not that into him
  21. Twitter was blowing up about #hornguy behind the plate, but I thought it was hilarious. I just had to turn the volume down so muh lady didn't think there was a pissed off car outside our house laying on the horn. If there's going to be a World Cup style discovery of under-the-radar players who now maybe get a shot at MLB, my first pony is Yariel Rodriguez. If there weren't pitch count rules, it looked like he could've kept the MLB-heavy NED lineup off the board for another couple innings easy. Mid-to-high nineties, 3000K on breaking stuff, per the announcer guy. He looked hella good. Currently earning money as a reliever in Japan with Chunichi. SIGN HIM NOW METS!!!! Second vid down on this page are Yariel's highlights (also horn guy's) --> https://www.mlb.com/news/cuba-vs-netherlands-in-world-baseball-classic-2023https://www.mlb.com/news/cuba-vs-netherlands-in-world-baseball-classic-2023 his BBRef page --> https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=rodrig000yarhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=rodrig000yar
  22. Could be. I might guess a union would tell him to keep his yap shut until investigations are done, but failure to appear would seem like bad advice wherever it came from? Next court date is April 14 with a AAA Syracuse game scheduled a couple hours away in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Don't skip court for BP, Khalil.
  23. The article linked in the original post (below) has a bit more info and it sounds like Lee might have a shitty attorney who gave him shitty advice OR Lee just went to spring training and told his lawyer to handle it. Either way, bad bad bad bad. Also this: Magnarelli asked if Tedd thought his client would agree to plea to the criminal obstruction of breath in exchange for a probation sentence. Tedd said that he would advise Lee not to take the plea so that he would not have a misdemeanor on his criminal record. Tedd pointed out that Lee had no criminal history and has never been accused of domestic violence in the past. “He is 25 years old,” the judge responded, “Let's hope not.” A plea avoids jail time but obviously puts his job in very big jeopardy. I guess Lee is denying it? I haven't a comment from him anywhere. https://www.syracuse.com/crime/2023/03/syracuse-judge-issues-warrant-for-mets-player-i-dont-care-hes-at-spring-training.htmlhttps://www.syracuse.com/crime/2023/03/syracuse-judge-issues-warrant-for-mets-player-i-dont-care-hes-at-spring-training.html
  24. I found this great thread on all the WBC teams that I've already used a few times as a quick reference. It starts with Cuba and goes from there.
  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Do the Mets have any players who will be going to Asia to participate? Senga is skipping the WBC... I'm not sure if there are any others. The only one I found is Claudio Scotti a minor leaguer who is repping Italy.
