  1. Kyle Freeland pitching like he's in midseason form in Coors and gives up a bomb. 3-1 Japan.
  2. Probably of minimal interest to folks on this board, but the MLS package is free with T-Mobile, as well. $99 bucks off. So, like, is T-Mobile good?
  3. Our old pal Aaron Loup limits the damage, 2-1 Japan. I suspect he'll be slugging down Busch beer regardless of the outcome.
  4. Quick hook for Merrill Kelly, but probably a good call. The starting rotation for US was always kinda suspect but the bully is deep (and pretty well rested).
  5. Munetaka Murakami is 22 years old and hit 56 bombs last year. Post him NOW!!!!
  6. Lets hope Trea Turner goes stone cold in a Phillies uniform, but dammit , you cannot keep the man in the yard in a USA kit
  7. Nothing like gray hairs in the beard of Ken Griffey Jr. to remind you that life is a very fast moving train.
  8. Could pass for Rod Beck, too.
  9. I'm the only one who dug it.
  10. We were in town for my mom's memorial service, which was Saturday evening. We flew in Friday and home Monday, so that left us with one day to have a bit of fun in Florida. My wife and daughter opted for shopping at a big outlet mall. My son and I opted for baseball, naturally. That's not a great capture, he had a big ol grin on his face for the majority of the game. This was my early birthday gift to him as he turns 18 on Friday. The guy to my son's left, and his wife, were some serious Jersey people. I told the guy he looked and sounded like he just rolled out of the Bada Bing club. He paused for a good 8-10 seconds and then went, "OK, enough of that." They were great. Condolences, brudda. Glad you were able to crack a couple smiles over the weekend anyway. The guy on your left looks like Danny McBride trying to enjoy a game as Kenny Powers.
  11. Fangraphs currently has 25-year old Spencer Steer projected as their number 9 hitting, third baseman, Votto as their DH. I didn't know much about Steer, but he's got an .846 OPS plus in 1200 PA in the minors, .23 points higher than our guy Vientos. Youth, depth and Votto at DH might still make Vientos somewhat desirable, though.
  12. McNeil seemed like a fantastic fit as the nine hitter in that lineup. But slow start got his ass behind Tim Anderson quick and, yeah, that lineup is tough to crack back into. I'm guessing he'll be pinch hitter extraordinaire again tonight with a lefty on the hill for team Japan.
  13. I maybe would've been fine with trading Mauricio for something until I saw him swatting lasers this spring and looking like a switch-hitting Oneil Cruz. I want him around forever.
  14. From this past Sunday. Great vantage point to watch from. We enjoyed watching just how far breaking pitches were breaking, especially as thrown by righties as they broke towards us. https://ibb.co/vDW8G5s Dayumm, great seats homie. You have the smile of a dude on vacation with his family watching baseball. Fboy has the "we left the hard rock cafe early for this?" look on his face.
  15. I'd love to have him and he's actually a really good sibling player (apologies, Mike Glavine). But he would cost a ton, easily one of those guys you mentioned. I'd still be real hesitant. Especially this early. Everything could still go very right or very wrong and we may not even need him.
  16. Bottom 8 was so tense for Mexico. Japan loaded em up and they were trying to somehow escape without facing Ohtani. And they did! Then he just leads off the 9th with a double anyway.
  17. Holy shit, Japan! What a game!!
  18. What an incredible game. And posting this for all to revel in
  19. D'oh missed your post, KC
  20. Baseball player gets injured playing baseball. At least he wasn't carted off? Yay, 2023.
  21. Yeah, it's sticky. No perfect time, but November seems too soon after a 162 game season plus playoffs for some. The WBC would lose more guys like Scherzer who try to time everything to have just enough left in the tank at the end of the MLB run. I think now-ish is probably the best time. The Caribbean winter leagues can continue to do their thing without losing half their players or shutting down for the WBC. Most players now are staying in shape year round, so just picking between Major League camp or WBC camp makes the most sense to me. If you want players who are already "ramped up", they could take a very extended all-star break and hold the WBC in July or something. I don't like that idea for a few reasons (pausing the league, non-WBC dudes sitting around), but it would make the people who think these guys aren't ready to ball 100% in March find something else to gripe about.
  22. https://twitter.com/SNY_Mets/status/1636523442106187780 Makes sense , thoughtful from Ron Yeah, but dudes in the 80s just didn't train year round the way they do now. Guys were using March as a time to cut back on ciggies.
  23. Bring our players home to the safe haven of spring training NOW!!!! so that no one can get injured celebrating
  24. So who's got our fallen hero Edwin Diaz? I've got Gavin Lux.... Draft this weekend, suckas!
