  1. So glad I disconnected my TV service.
  2. Remember these guys? The cricket bowlers from India who won a contest to play baseball in the states? Well they're doing it, and doing OK, it looks like, too. Their blog is still a great, funny read. I really like these dudes a lot for some reason. Blog: http://www.themilliondollararm.com/blog/ Rinku Singh @ BBR: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=singh-001rin Dinesh Patel @ BBR: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=patel-001din Pretty nice line for Rinku this year.
  3. That was awesome, man. Loved the Candy, one, too, and think this... Fuck you, to the temptation of shapely women, alcohol and proximity ...should be on a t-shirt, bumper sticker, and/or my tombstone. I skipped all the lines about the Pirates.
  4. yay! it's only 9:15. let's end this shit, so i can go out!
  5. Really digging Victorino's style. Certain I could be swimming in bitches, too, if I shave my head and start wearing some dope galoshes.

  7. Maybe a collective KTE here, as I'm frantically packing for a last minute vacay. Mets (49-46): sucking, just swept by the DBags and 1-6 on the current trip. Dodgers (50-45): sucking, just got a complete game shutout from Chad Billingsley to break a 6-game losing streak. Probables: Thursday, all-Japanese affair, 7:10 Pacific Tak2 v. Hiroki Kuroda, 7-8, 3.74 ERA Friday, 7:10 Pacific Johan v. Vicente Padilla, 4-2, 3.65 ERA Saturday, 1:10 Pacific Big Pelf v. TBD Sunday, 1:10 Pacific RA v. TDB Lefty stud Clayton Kershaw was just handed down a 5-game suspension for throwing at some bro on the Giants the other night. He'll probably appeal, but may miss this series anyway. Not sure who will throw the extra game. Sorry. At this moment, neither does Dodgers.com. Quickie Dodger stuff: Furcal (.337 BA) has been pretty awesome this year, remember him? I barely do, too. After a torrid start and then an injury, Andre Ethier (.916 OPS) is back and playing real well again. Would-be stud Matt Kemp has underperformed a good bit this year (.261/.317/.457 = .774), but James J-Lo Loney has been an RBI machine despite little real HR power (6 HR, 64 RBI, .789 OPS). Their lineup tonight, which should be similar for the series: Furcal - SS Carroll - LF Either - RF Kemp - CF Blake - 3B Loney - 1B Belliard - 2B Martin - C Pitcher That's all I got. Pitch in if you got stuff. Go Mets. See u guys later.
  8. Win as ugly as those white hats. That was fun!
  9. I do remember that Ravens chick, yes. That big, but empty-ish bar where we watched the NZ/OZ cricket replay and drank rum?? That was a fun night, man. The Metros would probably be my club. The Melbrourne Bushrangers (!) and the Brisbane Bandits would have to be contenders, too, but ultimately, Sydney'd win out, I think. Congrats again. I'd be just as stoked.
  10. Dude, that's great. I looked all over for a baseball field when I was there (tons of cricket and rugby grounds) before I finally saw the empty field for, I think it was, the Newcastle White Sox. Doesn't look like the franchises have nicknames yet huh?
  11. Great stuff, Mole. I know you had to go with Morneau/porno, but anyone seen Pavano's face lately?
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think the Mets should trade for both Lee and Oswalt, and then sign and quickly promote Matt Harvey. Then three fifths of their rotation would be Lee-Harvey-Oswalt. Make the Dealey, yo.
  13. It's Ticketmaster Jr. over here. They can do shit like that because if you really want to see the Mets (or Justin Beiber or Madonna or who the hell ever), you pay the ridiculous fees or go exactly nowhere else to get your ticket. I bought 4 Band of Horses tickets for the Greek and got $44 bucks worth of "convenience" fees tacked on at the end, plus the order processing fee, plus the building facility fee. Sending them to my apt was free, but when I bought Eels tickets a couple weeks ago, they started charging $2 a ticket for that even. Pearl Jam struck out swinging after a lengthy at bat trying to combat this shit in the day. I say go get 'em Wiener.
  14. The dudes who put out the excellent "Baseball Project" album give us the OK and sometimes weird-sounding "Lima Time". "It's Lima Time somewhere in this world..." http://thebaseballproject.bandcamp.com/track/lima-time
  15. "Mets on TV" was also the name of the campaign started here during that whole Cablevision dust-up a couple seasons back, no? Don't get the CPF all riled up.
  16. Chin up, man. Bobby Parnell had "ugh" numbers coming out of school, too.
  17. Yeah, give the kid a break. That game was a nail-biter.
  18. I remember having in-draft threads at work in years past. Whey did they stick this sucker in prime time?
