1. I'd swap Duda and Ike, or even put Duda in front of Wright. If all he does is walk or hit a homer, put him in front of David anyway. Ike - Duda - Buck - Ankiel... you gotta break that fearsome, foursome up somehow.
2. He's not a new story, but he's such a weird and awesome one, and the St. Lucie ties could give it some fresh NYM-centric legs... hopefully. I can't wait to see the '30 for 30' on this guy someday. It's easy to see this AAAA outfielder and forget how dominant he was as a young pitcher. BP's #1 prospect, 12.8 K's per 9 in the minors and he effing mashed, too. Hit 10 homers in the minors one year in 105 AB's. He was the real life Steve Nebraska and then, poof. This team's so hard to stomach at times, I'm all for trying to milk a feel-good story.

4. I just mean looking back yearly from this year, and by the decade, too. Agree with that arc, just not sure if it's dropped off now, either, but I suspect it looks bell-ish and it has.
5. Are there less than there used to be? Feels like it to me, but don't know if anyone keeps track of that particular thing. Wonder what the yearly number/percentage is for the Mets? /cough coughbengrimmcough cough...
6. oe: gotta make some a these smaller, sorry. very cool, btw.
7. Quietest .988 OPS in the Major Leagues.
8. Makes we want to vacation to PITTSBURGH AND HANG WITH WANDY RODRIGUEZ!!!! Cool stuff.
9. Ike's got plenty of flaws, but he's still one of our better flawed guys. The Nats are still running out Adam LaRoche. The Braves, BJ Upton. Guys get off to extended, shitty starts sometimes. What are the Mets gonna turn it over to Josh Satin? Ike'll turn it around at some point, and when he does, the Team will have to figure out whether they can, or are willing to risk dealing with this crap again next year.
10. hi, i'm just logging in to say, 'FUCKING GODDAMN SHIT!' and now i'm gonna go drink some drinks. night, yall.
11. Somebody's clearly punching Jordany in the dick and balls at about :45 seconds into this highlight clip. http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=330424121 1) Who's doing the dick punching? 2) Is dick punching ever funny unless the guy getting punched is a dick himself? And then is it funny? maybe. EDIT: Mets.com has the reverse angle and it was our own Captain Dick Punch with the fister up the middle. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?c_id=nym&content_id=26570647&topic_id=28898650
12. Yeah that was bizarre. How the eff do you score that one?
13. "We're both overrated performers in our respective professional fields and have easy, disarming grins."

15. I see HoJo when I look at Murphy tonight.
16. Tejada, too. Still hits like Tejada, but now he can't field it either. I'm gonna go watch the Clippers now.
17. I kept picturing this glasses-wearing base coach when I saw the younger version tear off after that dickface, Dibble. Puts the 'tough' in Teufel, for sure. PS - who's calling the action with Fran? And seeing as how Teufel went from a 107+ OPS in the first half of '89 to an 86+ in the second half, can we all agree the beanball and fight totally wrecked his CAHN-fidence?
18. Fucking brilliant, son.
19. Jeez, you're good.
20. The Onion AV Club: "Bull Durham is the Greatest Baseball Movie Ever Made". http://www.avclub.com/articles/why-bull-durham-is-the-greatest-baseball-movie-eve,96143/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_campaign=standard-post:headline:default Bull Durham (1988) Bull Durham is the greatest baseball movie because it isnt really about baseball, even though writer-director Ron Shelton drew on his own experience as a minor-league player and captured the particulars of that world like no filmmaker before or since. Its true subject is passion. Religious and sexual metaphors intertwine to magnificent effect: Susan Sarandons Annie Savoy tells us at the outset that she belongs to the Church of Baseball (her house resembles a shrine), then relates her annual tradition of selecting one promising player on the Durham Bulls as her lover for the season. Ostensibly, what follows is a lightly comic romantic triangle involving Annies relationships with hotheaded young pitcher Ebby Calvin Nuke LaLoosh (Tim Robbins, in his breakout role) and his reluctant mentor, aging catcher Crash Davis (Kevin Costner, in his defining performance). But what really binds these three indelible charactersand what determines which two end up togetheris a stubborn, irrational ardor for the circumscribed realm they inhabit. And thats something you can appreciate even if you have no idea what a ground rule double is. This is a simple game, snarls the Bulls head coach (the late, lamented Trey Wilson) at one point. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball. Shelton knows better, though, and complications are Bull Durhams lifeblood, both on and off the field. Shrugging off your catchers signal means having him tell the opposing teams batter what pitch youre about to throw, out of spite. Racking up all the all-time minor-league record for home runs only underscores the fact that you never made it in the show. In many ways, the film achieves the fizzy delirium of classic comedies by the likes of Preston Sturges and Leo McCareyits idiosyncratic, crazily detailed, endlessly quotable, and genuinely interested in even the most marginal members of its insular community. (There are no small parts here.) Underneath the effervescence, though, lurks a poignant recognition that all of this joy and heartbreak revolves around an activity thats arguably trivial and unquestionably ephemeral. Accepting that paradox, even embracing it, is rather like accepting and embracing life itself. Availability: Bull Durham is available for rental and purchase on DVD and Blu-ray from pretty much everybody.
21. OK, OK, no need to yell at me. Wurlitzer in, I don't think we had a full rotation anyway.
22. Lot of un-athletic, fat guy depth at the catcher position and plenty of washed-up hangers-on in the rotation, but I think this lineup can compete. [u:204wakwb]Catcher[/u:204wakwb] Crash Davis Jake Taylor --- *Dottie Hinson *Engleberg *Hamilton "Ham" Porter *Spike Nolan *Gus Sinski [u:204wakwb]First Base[/u:204wakwb] Jack Elliott Lou Collins (Disappointed to open with Selleck and Timothy Busfield here, but think we can make it up at other positions. Might wanna give Dottie a 1b mitt [via Mike Piazza]) [u:204wakwb]Second Base[/u:204wakwb] Marla Hooch [u:204wakwb]Third Base[/u:204wakwb] Roger Dorn [u:204wakwb]Shortstop[/u:204wakwb] Benny "the Jet" Rodriguez [u:204wakwb]Leftfield[/u:204wakwb] Kelly Leak Scotty Smalls [u:204wakwb]Centerfield[/u:204wakwb] Willie "Mays" Hayes "All the Way" May [u:204wakwb]Rightfield[/u:204wakwb] Roy Hobbs Pedro Cerrano --- *Ahmad Abdul-Rahm *Timmy Lupus [u:204wakwb]DH[/u:204wakwb] Stan Ross [u:204wakwb]Starters[/u:204wakwb] Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh Tanner Boyle Henry Rowengartner Kit Keller Amanda Wurlitzer [u:204wakwb]Bullpen[/u:204wakwb] Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn (CL) Billy Chapel Chet "Rocket" Stedmon Monty Brewster Eddie Harris [u:204wakwb]Coaching Staff[/u:204wakwb] Lou Brown - Manager Morris Buttermaker - 1B Coach Jimmy Dugan - 3B Coach [u:204wakwb]Announcer[/u:204wakwb] Harry Doyle *on the 40 (wo-)man roster, but not the Opening Day 25.
