  1. Ray Barrone's twins had Mets bedsheets. No way was he a MFY fan.

I thought the same thing too Yancy, then I happened to watch it and it was ok. And how is Alfonzo so low? He should correlate to a 6 or 7.
  3. It's not from 2006 but I love that quote. You would be startled by how many people don't understand why that quote is funny.
  4. Fan Groups and their Costumes of Choice: The Pink Floyds The Star-Spangled Bannisters The Uncle Tom Glavines
  5. I think we had a thread like this a few years ago. Anyway, Glavine's crew should be called the Uncle Tom Glavines. Fans dress up like black people who have become too whitewashed or have otherwise turned their backs on the black community.
  6. Someone needs to create a drink called the Pedro Martini. And it shouldn't be me, otherwise it would be a martini with a splash of beer.
  7. I think we should be the Pedro Martinis. We'll go to games dressed like martini glasses. Or we could just drink lots of martinis and get really drunk.

Willets Point wrote: ="Yancy Street Gang"]="ScarletKnight41"]I saw it more like trying to emulate the fans in Philly, who have had The Wolf Pack, The Padilla Flotilla, etc. More stupid than offensive, IMO. The offensive part is in saying that all Hispanics are alike. That Dominicans might as well be Mexicans. I agree. I doubt The Wolf Pack & Padilla Flotilla involved dressing as ethnic stereotypes. These guys could call themselves Pedro's Comprades and wear Pedro Martinez jerseys. The costumes are not necessary. It occurs to me, that if there were a group of fans calling themselves "Floyd's Homies" that came in wearing blackface, they probably wouldn't be allowed in the stadium, much less put on TV.
  10. Fans having fun? Or offensive stereotype? For those that might have missed it, at Shea last night, there were a group of fans last night calling themselves "Pedro's Compadres". In "honor" of Pedro, they wore sombreros and fake moustaches. I have no doubt these fans were well-intentioned. But did they end up reinforcing an outdated and offensive stereotype? Or is it harmless fun? And aren't sombreros Mexican?
  11. Hey, let's see what Sammy Sosa is up to...
  12. I always liked "Bring it Home Mets". I think it was the theme on Channel 9 in 1986.
  13. Meanwhile, the Macho Man seems to have suffered an even worse fate: Savage is now pursuing a career as a rap artist; his debut album Be A Man was released on October 7, 2003. His album was met with scathing reviews; according to a review by Dan Aquilante of the New York Post, his album "defies the laws of physics by blowing and sucking at the same time." The title track of the album was intended to make fun of Hulk Hogan. Holy crap! Leaping Lanny Poffo was his brother! How crazy is that? How is one brother so tough while the other is such a wuss?
  14. Miss Elizabeth passed in 2003 of an apparent accidental drug overdose. From wikipedia: On May 1, 2003 in Marietta, Georgia, Luger (Lex Luger, a wrestler who Elizabeth had been living with) called 9-1-1 from his home and reported that Elizabeth was not breathing. The 911 operator told him to give her mouth to mouth resucitation but she did not respond. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She died at the age of 43. Police launched an investigation because, two weeks prior to her death, Lex Luger had been arrested on charges of domestic violence. Police found pills of hydrocodone and alprazolam (Xanax) as well as anabolic steroids, testosterone and sazien in the home Luger and Hulette shared. The subsequent autopsy showed that Hulette died of an accidental drug overdose mixing the medications with vodka. Luger was cleared of any wrongdoing in connection with her death. WWE Smackdown! made a slideshow about Miss Elizabeth about her history, in dedication.
  15. If that's the case, 62, (and I'm not saying you're wrong), how does one explain that first year off the juice where he hit .200?
  16. Yancy Street Gang wrote: ="Centerfield"]I think the 2002 Mets spent a lot of April in first place. http://leaptoad.com/mets/standings.php?ThisDate=2002-04-30 Awesome Yancy. Thanks. Ultimate Mets Database. The reason we will never be able to lie about anything Mets-related.
  17. I think the 2002 Mets spent a lot of April in first place.
  18. Hernandez and Aguilera, I believe, both have Spanish (as in from Spain) heritage. I remember hearing Keith say something cutting edge last week that I wondered aloud whether he could say it, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was.
  19. Agreed. Sometimes I wonder if people realize Hernandez is still hitting .185 even with this current "hot streak".

  22. Is there a separate commercial thread? I was watching the replay last night and I want to know what idiot decided to air Derek Jeter commercials during Mets telecasts. And I know, I was watching the replay, but SNY should know that if anyone is sitting through a replay of the game, they must be a pretty big fan. I will never EVER buy anything from the Tri-State Lincoln Ford Mercury dealers. And with that video game commercial, did anyone else notice that the commercial starts out with Beckett saying he's not going to go low and away, with Jeter mirroring, he's not going low and away, only to have the pitch end up low and away?
  23. metirish wrote: CF were you really surprised with Zambrano?,I watched the replay like you and I thought it was a typical Zam outing. I couldn't follow the game during the day yesterday, so when I looked at the boxscore, and the IGT, I thought Victor was pretty strong before struggling in the 5th. Plus, with his strong spring, I guess I was hoping for better. But you're right, yesterday was typical Zambrano. Unfortunately.
