  1. Just watched the replay on TV. The hitting, of course, looked great. But I was surprised how much Zambrano struggled. His ball/strike ratio was awful...and it looked like he got the benefit getting balls hit right at people a few times. For the life of me I can't figure out why they traded Benson and kept Zambrano.
  2. Great to see Cliffy get it going. He hit some balls hard last night too. I hear that, on top of his HR and double, he hit a scorcher that was caught today.
  3. Martinez 5 Beltran 1 Wright 1 Delgado 1 Wagner 1 Hernandez .5 Heilman .5
  4. Great question Bret. Add to that, that when you share your strategy, someone you share that strategy with could end up in the other dugout. For instance, say Pedro feels particularly talkative last season and shares his gameplan with a teammate in earshot of Marlon Anderson. Or, to take it another level, Pedro tells Marlon Anderson what pitchers are going to do to try to get him out. Now he's on the other side. Tough to say what the right thing to do here is.
  5. Anderson Hernandez might be the most well-liked under .200 hitter in Mets history. Great turn of the double play last night to preserve the lead, and another nearly spectacular play on the leadoff batter that inning. Here's how you know the team is winning...this quote is from today's News: Hernandez continues to hit enough, too, though it's been modest. After a 1-for-30 start to his big-league career, he has a four-game hitting streak and .185 average this season. He had a bunt single last night. So, when you win, hitting .185 is hitting "enough".
  6. New York Mets. Best record in baseball. Good night all.
  7. Who is Will Carroll? None of the papers corroborate this. They say Wagner is working out the kinks and that he wants the ball again tonight.
  8. Fucking Wagner always has to make it interesting.
  9. ="seawolf17"]You know who doesn't look like Kenny Rogers? Kenny Rogers. When he was on Idol a few weeks back, he looked way different. I know he's older now, but his hair is short and his beard is trimmed to just a van dyke. Weird. That freaked me out too. I had no idea who he was. He also looks younger than he did in the 80's.
  10. I hope they play all night.
  11. In fourth grade I got an award for perfect attendance. Cal Ripken didn't send me shit.
  12. What I'm amazed at is their ability to make sure that these guys suck again the minute they leave Atlanta. Oftentimes after coaxing large contracts from other teams. Yes Denny Neagle, I'm talking about you.
  13. To be clear, we are allowed to discuss how people voted in the thread itself so long as its after the actual votes right? And discussion regarding the contest in general should be directed here? (Is this post in the right thread?)
  14. The guy mentions it in his intro, but did the color guy fall asleep during this inning? He reminds me of Uecker's partner in Major League II.
  15. "The Oil Can, at least for the moment, looks like he has tomorrow night off."
  16. Wow. This is the coolest thing ever.
  17. Trachsel 3 Wright 2 Reyes 2 Beltran 1 Delgado 1 Nady 1
  18. I love that commercial.
  19. Big O's post needs to be farmed out to a Standings 2006 thread.
  20. Glavine - 5 Wright - 2.5 Beltran - 1.5 Delgado - 1
  21. I can't tell if Willets is being facetious or not. Yesterday I actually thought to myself, "You know, this Glavine signing may not have been all that bad."
  22. By the way, whatever happened to soupcan's "C"?
  23. Stop mooing Elsie soupcan. (groan)
  24. Dish Network? For real? Last I heard they didn't carry YES. If that means they have the Mets channel but not the MFY channel, they might be my favorite distributor of programming ever.
  25. BOOO DICKSHOT BOOOO!* *Of course, by "BOOO", I mean to say that I'm very disappointed by what you've shown so far as a CPF-er so far Johnny. You can post better than that. Maybe you've been too banged up to perform optimally, maybe you're feeling pressure having to replace Wide Bee Gee, a CPF legend, but we've got a high level of frustration going on here, and we want you to know that we expect more out of you and we watch this board very closely, so we will notice when you perform well, and we would prefer to make loud positive noises if only you'll give us something to cheer about, so please get your game together and let's enjoy a great season.
