  1. I did read something about that in Jayson Stark's last column. Let me find the link. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=2941630&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos2 Quote: The Mets have sent signals that they're now willing to move Mike Pelfrey in a big deal. But an official of one team that has been scouting the Mets' system says: "To be honest, I don't know if I'd take Pelfrey right now, the way he's throwing. I think he's been [scott] Boras-ized. I'm not seeing the same stuff I saw before. And he's showing a stubbornness that rubs me the wrong way, like [the Boras operation] has convinced him that their way is the better way. I'm seeing this with his guys all over now, and it's becoming a problem all over the industry."
  2. I like Gotay. Let the kid play.
  3. I was there until the end last night. The only game I cashed out early was the Maddux game. Exhausted, couldn't handle it.
  4. Thanks guys. Mrs. CF is the photographer. If there ever is born a CPF Wifey Watch, maybe I'll find a good pic. Not to be overlooked in the picture is the Mets car in Ryan's hand. That little car cost me $8! But it did buy me a happy son for several innings.
  5. 7/14/07 - Ralph Kiner Night and Ryan's first night at Shea. Not a bad game to make your debut. By my count there were in the house: 4 Hall of Famers Ralph Kiner Tom Seaver Bob Feller Yogi Berra 3 Future Hall of Famers Rickey Henderson Tom Glavine Ken Griffey Jr. Am I missing any? I wish Pedro had been there.
  6. Jose Valentin offered up that Franco was a less than eager participant in the clubs pre-game stretching. He also said Franco wouldnt hesitate to get in the face of some of the younger players about doing their jobs even though he was hitting .200. To be a leader for me, its not enough to talk all the time, Valentin said. You have to go out and do it yourself. This from John Delcos blog for the Journal News. http://mets.lohudblogs.com/2007/07/18/franco-clubhouse-influence-overrated/
  7. 5-4 is your final. Reds sweep the Braves.
  8. Gamecast has Jarrod Saltalamacchia batting for about a half hour.
  9. Most enjoyable game in like a month.
  10. Stating the magic number won't lead to losing the division. Delgado and Beltran continuing to suck will lead to losing the division.
  11. Did the Mets have red piping on their uniforms? Or is the color on my computer off?
  12. Wow three IGT's! Must be a hell of a game.
  13. I would have started Easley.
  14. Off the top of my head, Animal House, Airplane, Princess Bride. Maybe Caddyshack. I'd take any of these over a number of movies on that list.
  15. I think Jordan R. is Sanchez's agent. Dear Marty, Since we are about to go into the dog days of summer where players tend to break down a bit, don't you think it would be a good idea if they signed CPF poster Centerfield? He's 32 years old and hasn't played organized baseball since 1991 but he should be pretty fresh with that sort of layoff. He'd be perfect because they wouldn't have to commit to him long-term and he could hold the position until FMart is ready. Jordan R. - New York, New York
  16. I'm seeing a bit of a bias against comedies.
  17. I would like to see neither player return, at least in a starting role. In a perfect world, I'd like to see one established corner guy, and one spot left for a kid, either Milledge or Gomez.
  18. A little busy at work so a "Just the Facts Ma'am" KTE is all I can serve up today. The Pads come into action tonight one game behind LA in the NL West with a record of 50-40, and would qualify for the Wild Card if the season ended today. In a nutshell, the Padres can pitch. Their 3.13 team ERA is by far the best in the NL (Dodgers are a distant second at 3.77). Not all of their success can be attributed to Petco either (3.46 ERA on the road). While their starters have been good (3.45 ERA), their bullpen has been even better (2.55 ERA). So if youre going to get them, get them early, because that pen gets even stingier when its close and late (2.44 ERA). The pen is led, of course, by Trevor Hoffman, but its also had strong performances from almost-Met Scott Linebrink, former-Met Heath Bell, and Justin Germano who has never had anything to do with the Mets. In this series, well be seeing some old friends. Veteran David Wells (4-5, 4.31) gets the start tonight. On Tuesday, the Mets will see All-Star Jake Peavy (9-3, 2.19), and on Wednesday, its our old nemesis Greg Maddux (7-7, 4.35). The Mets will fortunately miss Chris Young and his microscopic 1.97 ERA. The good news is that the team doesnt hit all that much. They rank 12th in runs scored, 13th in OPS, second to last in OBP and dead last in BA. In attempt to jumpstart their offense they just picked up Milton Bradley from the As. Well see the Giles brothers in San Diego. Brian is doing ok, with a .292 average. Marcus is struggling with a .242 average and I think he is splitting time with Geoff Blum. Neither is hitting for any power as they have combined for just 6 HRs. Mike Cameron hits cleanup for them with 11 HRs and a team high .262 BA. The only other threats in the lineup are first baseman Adrian Gonzalez (.261, 14 HRs, 52 RBI) and shortstop Khalil Green (.240, 16 HR, 52 RBI). X-Factor: Mike Cameron, Heath Bell, Royce Ring. Feel free to supplement as you guys see fit.
  19. What emoticon is that anyway? I think there are two sets of eyes there.
  20. Tim Brown uses the term "helped" very liberally. HoJo was 0 for 7 in the '86 post-season, striking out in a key at-bat in the 9th inning of Game 6.
  21. For the record, I don't think I'm being given enough credit here. I call for Milledge and Gotay to be in the lineup and look what happens. One of them drives in 2 runs, including a HR...and the other hustles around the bases with the winning run. I should be swimming in praise right now. Hell, I should be given a non-descript coaching role.
  22. I was actually thinking of asking you to re-size him like you did with vic's avatar.
  23. Much appreciated. I'll have to measure the kid tonight.
  24. Question about bringing your kids to the game, actually two... 1. Under 3, no ticket required right? 2. Are diaper bags ok?
